  1. S-A WebSTAR DPC2100 Series DOCSIS Cable Modem Ethernet+USB <<HW_REV: 1.1; VENDOR

    : S-A; BOOTR: 2.1.5; SW_REV: v2.0.1r1135; MODEL: DPC2100>>

    System up time                      = 0 days 00h 00m 10.00s

Downstream channel frequency        = 549000000 Hz

Downstream received signal power    = -5.8 dBmV

Upstream channel frequency          = 22000000 Hz

SigQu: Signal to Noise Ratio        = 35.1 dB

Cable modem status                  = Ranging complete

Upstream transmit signal power      = 38.0 dBmV

Press any key to continue . . .

Info I got while I rebooted the modem with the program.

When I looked in the Cable Modem status page, mine was also like 42 Mbps/10 Mbps when rebooting (I looked), and then when it downloaded a .cfg file, the cap went to 6.6 Mbps/384 Kbps.

    On 6 Mbps/384 Kbps plan.

    :coffee:

Nope, we don't get the boost here (Denver) until mid-September, and from what I've seen of others who have it already I would be higher than 12...

    I use SpeedConnect MC:

    http://www.cbs-soft.com/speedconnect.htm

using setting for: Cable Mode 3

I've never had below 9 since I installed it, and usually faster.

Very cool, because when I tried other tweaking, it really didn't make an impact.

Well sorry to tell you this, but you got ripped off... All that program basically is, is a clone of CableNut, that is more user friendly (which is free).

Here is a screenshot of PowerBOOST in action for those who want to drool:

    Por favor  :haha:

    Zomgs hax

  5. you did alot of swtiching around there.

Upload stayed about the same  :haha:

I loved that REAL 10 Mbps "upgrade" though... until it just "disappeared" 3 months later. And yes, the speed was stable. Only took like 15 min to download a 600 MB file.

probally so people cant share stuff via bittorrent, and also so they cant run a very good server.

About the server thing, I ran a CS:S Server for my clan's scrim (back in year 2005 in january) and it could only run a 10 people server. If more people had to play, it eventually was lagging badly (everyone had like 100+ ms ping and eventually into the 500's). They were all complaining about the lag too ;)

  6. The problem now though, is that speed test databases will be filled with this "boosted speed", and not the connections' "true speed". Which then ends up averaging Comcast's speeds a bit higher (quite a bit actually) than what they actually are. Which then, Comcast can use this information to convince people like you and I to keep Comcast, or even better yet, they could even be targetting people to pay the extra $10 for the greater boost.

  7. You all have to remember,, You can only download as fast as some one can give you.. So we may be downloading more than 8-10Mb/second but most websites out there limit the amount of upload speed to prevent network congestion and give all users the same flow of traffic....I have yet seen a website that can give me an upload of more than 2MB a second..

Issue has been resolved here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16358475~days=9999~start=20

As for not giving more than 2 MB a sec, you are mistaken, once again. AIM's web site is very capable of handling the speed. And please read the thread from BBR above, that I've brought up the same issue.

  8. ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

Download Connection is:: 18477 Kbps about 18.48 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)

Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 5.391 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: Looks Great : 19.21 % faster than the average for host (73.178)

As I said, it only "boosts" for files less than 20 MB  :haha:, otherwise, it doesn't go the whole way, and slows down at around 20 - 30 MB. As I said, the first thing I've noticed this on was when I was trying to download a Battlefield 2 patch, and the speed just... took a dive.

As anyone would be thinking, would NOT be their connection, and rather the server they are trying to download from. But not this time, this time, it was "PowerBoost".

  9. Here's an article over at BBR, indicating that PowerBoost is a scam (which proves my analysis correct):

"...Users are supposed to get an additional chunk of bandwidth during the first quarter or half of a significant download - provided network capacity is available - after which the speed is throttled back to your regular capped speed...."

    Source: http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/75298

The facts clearly contradict what Comcast is trying to prove in their propaganda in PowerBoost. I had so much hopes up that "PowerBoost" was going to be the ultimate upgrade, but I guess I had too much hope in Comcast.

    As for what Comcast says:

"...Downloading a 686MB game takes only 12 minutes on Comcast

  10. I'm positive that it's in my area..
