  1. ya got a email from bellsouth this morning.

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for choosing bellsouth Fastaccess DSL, over the coming weeks we are going to be adding a new Fastaccess DSL plan to our already expansive network. We are calling it Fastaccess DSL Xtreme 6.0, it will offer 6.0Mbps downstream and 512Kbps upstream with free static IP address a $14.95 value. We will be launching the new package starting October 1, 2005. It will be available in South Florida at release and gradually becoming available accost our serviceable area. Not all Fastaccess DSL customers will qualify for the Xtreme 6.0, there are several possibilities of why this is, the main reason is you must be 8000 feet from the central office. Please call our sales department at 1-888-321-2375 option 3 to see if you qualify. For all existing Fastaccess DSL Xtreme 3.0 customers the upgrade will be free with no cost increase in current billing. If you have any questions please call customer service at 1-888-321-2375 option 1.

    I was right

    ROFL!

  2. ya prove it.

You'll know when the 6.0 service comes out.  When is that date again?  Oh, wait.  You were wrong about that too.  Maybe when they upgrade all the 3meg customers automatically.  Oh wait.  That was wrong too.  Well, probably when they do away with the 256k service like you said.  Oh wait, that was wrong too.

Yeah, like *I* need to prove you're wrong?  You're doing a fine job all by yourself.  :)

  3. have you checked the prices lately for bellsouth dsl extreme 3.0 is only $42.99. ive been also told that people on exreme 3.0 will get a email when it is avaiable so we can upgrate for no additional charge to our current plan.

This is going to be a real shocker, but you were told wrong.  Again.

  4. carried awayu or not i have installed dsl at 768/128 at a cable length of 10.5k. and that was not terribly unusual, although we did measure each candidate individually for line quality at distances greater than 5km simply to avoid the embarassment of going out and setting it up only to find something wrong.

Interesting that y'all would do that, it doesn't seem very cost effective to send a tech out to test each loop over 5km.  BellSouth just draws a line there and if it's over won't sell it.  Who were you working for (or who are you working for) that does that?

  5. they were going to get rid of it because no one has it. Only about 3% of bellsouth DSL Customers have DSL Lite 256Kbps. most have the extreme 3.0. Its really not much faster then dial-up, and thats why bellsouth put it their in the first place to try and get people off there dial-up service so they can get rid of that in the next year. They also need to get rid of these slow plans so they can push ADSL2/ADSL2+ at very high speeds. 20Mbps+

DLewis, every post of yours I've read has been just as wrong as it can be and this one's no exception.  DSL Lite is a VERY big seller for BellSouth.  Xtreme 3.0 is NOT the biggest seller by far.  There is absolutely no need to get rid of one speed plan "so they can push ADSL2/ADSL2+".  It's not like you can't have them both.

And to repeat, there was never any plan for BellSouth to get rid of DSL lite except maybe in your imagination.

Do you just make this stuff up, or what?
