File sharing question

reno

Recommended Posts

Okay so some one posted about a Direct Connect HUB, and it was deleted because it had the testmy name I can understand that, then the person advertises it agian with a different name and it was deleted. I get filesharing is illegal then why is the person with the torrents site post not being deleted? There are links on that site that can lead you to download illegal files. Its a simple question. You delete the the DC hub post and not the torrent.

maybe the collective mods, or in fact just ca3le since he is the only one responsible for all this in not just a moral but a legal sense, should get their heads together and hammer out a solid guideline as to what may and may not be posted. for example no help with filesharing progs, no links to torrents, hubs or whatever new mechanism to steal stuff, no links to ... you get the idea.

then all of us can read it and will know what to report in the future. i feel silly reporting a post to mod because i think it goes too far into illegal activities when the initiator or at least one or more of the posters on the thread are mods.

it has nothing to do with wanting to denounce people, more with instilling a little more respect for the rule of the law.

I'm not going to report any one because there is nothing wrong with file sharing. I as just saying if one persons post on is going to get deleted they all should. With the torrent advertisement there was no way any one could miss it and to delete it. Seems to me that only one mod is really going after people about the filesharing. Kinda strange I think.

while filesharing per se is not illegal, there are some things shared that are not copyrighted etc, the torrent sites usually advertised do tend to get the greater number of hits for moviez and warez not linx distros, right? somebody wearing a skimask and carrying a crowbar and a sack through a residential neighborhood at night may just be going to open his own cars door after locking the keys in, but more than likely he is up to something a little more sinister, which is why any cop in the universe would take a closer look. and the same goes for here. people trading opinions on crowbars, i mean tools for filesharing, shuld be at least observed closely if not have those posts deleted.

if you must talk about such stuff, i'm sure there are many more forums out there that have people with a lot more expertise in such matters than here?

not file sharing, that's not the issue...torrents and wares is the issue...in the first issue with the hub...the user specifically posted that another user could get the key gen crack for an av file on the hub and he used the testmy name in his url and blatantly said he was gonna get his users by pulling users from testmy...this torrent site mentioned here...on the first page mentions files that include the cd key...this stuff doesn't belong on testmy boards...if these sites r gonna be shared it should be by pm or im or some other means than on the boards of this forum

so get the other mods together and go to the mountain and bring us back a set of rules set in stone. end the need for judgement calls.

botnick ~ I've been to mountain (not sure if it was the right one?) and found this written in stone.

I'm sure these guys (mods?) are discussing something about an illegal HUB.

The Big Guy (CA3LE the 1st) must be declaring some kind of law concerning this outrage.

. . .apparently, this debate has been going on for centuries

. . .probably has to do with all the reasons for all the illegal warz.

. . .at least, I didn't notice any cracks in the stone ~ that's a good thing ~ isn't it?

I believe the issue is that these sites, if they do not contain illegal material in themselves, may provide links to links to sites which do contain such material, which could in turn reflect poorly on this site and its forum, having been linked from here in the first place.

i would also like to stress here that links to torrent files doesn't mean its always illegal files behind it

torrent files are being used by many people and some organizations to distribute files

not all torrents are illegal
