Swimmer Posted January 3, 2006 CID Share Posted January 3, 2006 Alright first of all 802.11b is only going to be good up 11mbps.. which really means between 4.0 and 7.5Mbps. So you will NEVER get the full speed on this setup. You are going to want to apply some of the Cablenut tweaks to the adaptor.. that should increase your speed up to a point then the technology of 802.11b is going to limit the overall speed of your network. You might want to think about upgrading to an 802.11g router. I would check out newegg or zipzoomfly for some deals.. I know that currenly you can get a netgear router , 802.11g, for about 30.00 shipped in 2 days. However you are also going to have to upgrade your adaptors also.. Now my setup consists of a Linksys RV0041 (for wired) and a Linksys WRT-54G (for wireless). I just did a speed test here from my laptop connecting over the WRT-54G wireless and I just matched the best speed I can get here. :::.. Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make. Most 802.11g routers can get full speed on Verizon's FiOS service so there is nothing special about the Verizon one.
