Well after 2 weeks now, i finally got the 3/768 upgrade. Yesterday i called and told them i want it!! So the guy told me i would be getting my new modem/router in 2-4 days. Its been less than 12 hours, and im noticing an upgrade on the upload. Now im getting 1.3Mbps download (same as before) and a 527k upload. I guess the ol' westy cant handle speeds any higher? When i had the 768k service i was able to get speeds over 770, and the modem could handle it. Once i got 1.5 it could go 1.3. Upload was fine 128, then upgraded to 384. Now at 768 i could get 527 max.

I wouldnt consider that luck...

My guess is that my modem cannot handle speeds of over 1.3mbps down and 520kbps upload. I think this modem was made for a max of 1/512 now 3/768. That is why im waiting for my new modem to arrive.

Or maybe im not fully upgraded?

I think your right, its probl modem slowing you down.

either you got the upgrade or you havent, no middle stages.

but since you have increase upstream i think you got it delivered.

I have a Westell 2200 Also and a Linksys Router b! I called verizon to change my speed from 1.5Mbps to 3.0Mbps, and I asked them if they can send me the Versalink Modem, and they said that I need to be a new customer to get it. So I dont think you need the versalink to get higher speeds. This is my speed with the Westell 2200::::.. Download Stats ..:::

Just call them up and tell them that you would like to upgrade your plan to the speed of 3.0Mbps and make sure its 29.95 a month because they might of changed it. By the way they going to renew your contract for another year from the day you call!!!  But who cares its only like 30 dollars to stop it SO its all gOOD :haha:

I had that same  problem  a while  back  but  the old Westell Wirespeed only handles half duplex connection (10 Mbps)  and that speed tests  are  incorrect when dealing with a half duplex connections. The  Westell 2200 is guaranteed the full duplex connection (100Mbps) and is accurate nearly 100% of the time on speed tests. One main reason that I have on my mind  is the release of FIOS  and that  10 Mbps  connections to the networking card  is no longer used  so  100Mbps will be used for now on  till a higher speed above 100Mbps  comes out.

What service plan do you have with Verizon?  If  you are paying $15 / month  ,  then you have the 768Kbps / 192Kbps connection . Your connection seems right if its that plan.  The 3.0  connection is pretty old now  due  to FIOS.

if it is an ADSL+2 compliant modem, it will max at 24Mbps, as this is the max speed for ADSL+2 connections.  In short...any modem your ISP gives you, will do their max advertised speed, it doesnt make sense for an ISP to have special modems, especially in the broadband world, as people change speed tiers so often, it would bankrupt them!  So they use one modem, or at least one type of modem, and it will handle their max!

Sorry if that doesnt make sense, but it's 2:34am and im exhausted
