Blunted 2 Posted January 9, 2006 CID Share Posted January 9, 2006 i found one of my old routers and it sucks bad cause my speed goes from 26,000 kb without router to like 14,000 with it. its a POS netgear and really kills the speed so anyone who had issues with slow speed after getting a fast connection please post what routers you use now that gives you fast speed. cdf216 Posted January 10, 2006 CID Share Posted January 10, 2006 I'm not sure how to help you Blunted. I've never had a problem with my router slowing my connection that I can tell. And that's with 3 other computers including a webserver serving a website. While running the server has affected the upload at times it has had little effect on my download speed. However the router itself has shown no difference. My router is a linksys WRT54G . running wired to a gigabit switch connected to all 4 computers. cdf216 Posted January 10, 2006 CID Share Posted January 10, 2006 I get about 14300-14600 from a 15000 kbit (15 mbit) download but the 400- 700 kbps loss is just due to overhead.
