ya, but download is not so hot... we get same download as upload.... i'm thinking that it must be sdsl...... but last time i checked sdsl usually dosent go over 3 megs... and our internet is slow right now here since theres like 500 kids on it right now... lmao

i can usually download at 1000kb/s+ in the morning, but now its only at like 300-400

that sucks, if you can download at over 1000kb/s in the morning then its not a SDSL connection, its not even a duel T1. Its most likely some kind of fiber connection.

i dont know, but the reason its so slow right now is cuz theres like 500 people on network right now... when im alone in the morning at my zero period... i get so much more speed.... the speed is often 5-10 times higher than the 3 megs i get right now......

if its some type of fiber connection how can it get like 5meg upload on a good day.....?

i thought fiber uploads were capped at 2Megs....

Does the following server have a 12MB/20MB upload test? I believe I can get more out of my upload.

Server 2 (secondary server) (upload test) (testmy.net flat-file mirror, hosted on 'testmy.net server 2') Hosted in Downtown Dallas, TX - United States [uNLIMITED BANDWIDTH]

Thxz VB :). I won't be happy until I get your speeds though. :haha:

The test you linked me to is faster. Normally, it takes me anywhere from 50 - 60 seconds to complete a 12Mb upload test. Only took 45 seconds this time. :D

Here is the link to the 12MB test which I normally test from:

http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/u_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=12160&st=st&ta=&top=&align=center&

This is with a SB4200 which is known to suffer at higher speeds. The download still sucks with this modem, but the upload is pretty good.

A SB5100 would give me all my download along with a much faster upload.

hey organ..... do you have any idea how i could tweak my 5M/512K connection by charter to go over my advertized speeds, because i dont think the line is capped... it is able to supoort up to 10M/1M so i was wondering if i could get speeds clsoer to that without having to pay extra for it...

10MB service will be available to you next month through Charter right? And like you said, Verizon Fios is an option as well.

Tweaking won't get you 10megs on a 5meg package. Enjoy the speeds you have now and hold tight. Faster service is very close for you.

Have you tried Van's tweaks to get the most out of your connection?
