from the command prompt:

type netsh winsock reset catalog and hit enter

when it completes, it will tell you to restart, do so.

then do: netsh int ip reset c:resetlog.txt and hit enter

when it completes, it will simply bring back the command line.

this will reset your winsock, winsock2 and tcp/ip stack.

try a direct connection after that and see what your IP is.
