read few of ur Posts here

having the same problem, Westel 2200

the dude from verizon told me yesterday that my Modem is faulty (though i think its bullshit since today morning i had 180Kb/s, now having somewhere about 20 lol. last week had few days with 8Kb/s :P).

i never experienced any problem like this from verizon for the past half a year, i'm on 1.5MB and always got 180kb/s, except these last 2 weeks.

so should i change my modem? or woot?

:)  Ar.Pi,

First welcome to the site I hope you will enjoy... I usually try and give the tech the benefit of the doubt until I know he is wrong, assuming you have taken all the steps to insure the problem isn't you, like normal stuff you know like, run anti spy-ware pgms, and A.V. pgms, double check all connections etc., etc., etc., that being said if you have put in a service call it very easy for a tech to come on site and prove who is at fault.... a word of caution some companies bill customers when they are at fault..... good luck and let us know.... don't forget to tell your friends to check their speeds at TESTMY.NET...... :)

thanx for the welcome :)

i'm sure it isnt a user problem. also the Technician at Verizon made a screen share and checked everything by himself. also i installed a fresh windows few days ago (the problem started in old windows). i'm keeping my system clean all the time (Ad-Aware, AV, Startup, Minimum tasks etc...) and updated.

didnt recieve my new modem today , calling right now to check the matter.

will let know whats up when i change the modem.

peace  :)

I have the same exact problem. Only started to happen after I upgraded my circuit from 1.5/128 to 3/768.  It's fine now, I think, but the speeds are so off the wall.  Here's my tracert to speakesy.net taken at around 2am.

I tried to call Verizon a couple of days ago and after being on hold for almost an hour, I gave up.  I going to try them again over the weekend and see what happens.  It's interesting to note that the problem seems to be in the NYC area.  I'm in Brooklyn and have never had a problem before this.  Hopefully one of us will be able to shed some light on this matter.

ok , the Line Technician just was at my house.

He checked both my line and the Telphone Box line in Basement. everything was good.

he told me they have this problem (as i figured already) in Brooklyn and Queens. in Brooklyn they already seem to isolate the problem though.

he said thats cuz they upgrading into Fiber Optic and having problems. they tried to boost the speed of users by giving them more bandwidth up to 3.MBits but it only slowed down even more (exetended the distance lines). he also said something about "interleaves" or something like that (some boosting thing that also caused problems.)

long story short, the problem is with the Verizon Gateway.

he said i should monitor my speed these 2 days and he will call me back monday morning to check on me.

right now my speed is good (11:30 AM):

but my ping is not good (there is also big delay), somewhere about 50-90 ping :/

sucks

bah, well lets c what happens in 2-3 days, though i'm almost sure there will b slow downs again from 4PM-12PM.

Actually, it was a problem with verizon overselling their services. It has happened again recently, lasted for about 2 days and its good again. I think they have actually done something about it this time. I mean my sync rate has lowered when i plug a phone into my line. But now, i alwys sync at max.
