I just got a new laptop a couple of days ago and decided to put linux on it.

i used linspire (which sucks :evil1:) and i cant get it off. i can still use windows cause it has its own partion thing but i dont like it there and neither does my computer since it doesn't work worth crap.

anyways, i tried to format it off and got this:

C:documents and settingsvalued customer>Format c:/fs:dev/sda1

The type of file system is Fat32

The new file system is Fat32

Format is not available for devsda1 drives

i'm somewhat  :?: on computers

any help would be appreciated.

You won't be able to format it like that from Windows...

go to start - run, type diskmgmt.msc and press ok...

In the window that comes up, right click the partition that has linspire on it and click Delete Partition...

In the now free space, right click and click New Partition (or along those lines) and set it up as desired.
