After cleaning the bird doo off of the dish, failed transmissions have stopped.  Uploads still suck, but I think that's something on DWay's end.  I will be so glad in a couple of months when I move to Greenville and be done with this.  Cox cable here I come!

Ahhh you are so lucky trying to get dsl or cable down my way maybe i move back to union grove N.C they had good dsl there lol

Being that the problem is widespread, look for it to be an NOC problem, NOT a satellite problem.  You have to remember, those same transmissions have to be recived at the NOC from the Satellite properly, or will have to be retransmitted and count towards trans errors.  If the NOC is having trouble, look for high errors.

On another note, I was having the same problem, unplugged the modem for about 5 minutes, and cleaned the dish with clorox bathroom cleaner to get off bird crap.  Transmission errors virtually gone.  Could have been bird crap...could have been long reboot...who knows...

One thing you will find is that a lot of problems are at the NOC (GateWays), not usually the satellites....

And in ANY case, DWAY still needs to get THEIR CRAP together...

I was moved to AMC9 yesterday at 1370 from SatMex5 which was a nightmare for 2 months with the 7000. The true test will be during peak hours for me today. So far I have few transmission errors compared to almost 50 percent with SatMex 5.

Number of Successful Transmissions 43837

Number of Failed Transmissions 44

Number of Packets Submitted for Transmission 15229

Before I would be like NOST: 157,343 NOFT: 43,784 NOPS: 52,700

My signal strength is in the high 80's instead of low 60's. My cross poll is in mid 70's instead of mid 80's though. I watched everything as the installers worked and they worked until they got a good signal and the best cross poll they could. The only thing I didn't like is the cabling. They had new dual wire cable and started to run it into the house but the previous cable was "sealed" in the wall and they didn't want to take it all apart so they used connectors to link the old with the new. He assured me it didn't matter with that short of a run. It was late (about 6 pm) and the regisration server was down again so he couldn't finish commissioning the unit for me. I told him it was no problem since I am very used to the advanced page after 2 months of hell. It turns out the engineer didnt even put in the change even though the installer requested it that morning. I had to call back at 8pm to find out why it kept going back to SatMex 5 and the lady tech told me there was no request in. Then she found it and asked for a switch once again. Finally at 9:30 pm I was back up and running. I am posting the results of last night's speed test after the "fix" and this morning's results. Usually it starts slowing way down by now in California. I will post this afternoons as well to see just how bad it gets. My installer said pointed to the right bird in the right area, you shouldn't drop below 800/150. With SatMex 5 I was at 250/86 most of the afternoons. He said the Dway techs and engineers have no way of knowing (duhhh) what bird will work best for different areas and they should ask the installers because they know. Unfortunately there are a lot of BAD installers out there. Maybe they are formally failed Dway techs or is it the other way around?  :haha:  Here are the test results so far:

2 1/2 months of sheer pain and suffering with 250kbps downloads average and 2 months free service and FCC, BBB and CA attorney general complaints! If you run speed tests during the worst hours and show them that they are below the guaranteed rate (500/100 for dw7000 pro plan) they HAVE to do something. If you run at optimum hours and congested hours to prove to them that your speed drops during peak hours, they will simply average your 1mbps with your 250kbps and it will be above the 500kbps guarantee! You have to run the mydway tests ONLY during peak hours when the speeds are slow and just keep pushing them to do something. For me it was 2 1/2 months!!! I hope my tech is right in that I should not see a major slowdown during peak hours. My speeds at the start of peak hours for California (9am) are as follows:

Here are my latest speed tests. It is getting closer to noon...that "I don't want to go there" area when the internet always CRAWLS for me. It is looking good so far but I'm sure this bubble is going to burst in a few hours. Or, what if they just want to make me feel like it is all ok now for a couple of days and then slam me with S L O W once again? I'll keep you all posted....

Congrats on getting the switch frodoboy  :D

Looks like you're getting a big speed burst as well, try downloading a larger file (like 10 mb) and see what your finishing speed is. It should be around 130kb/s and that's very good for Direcway. Here's one of my biggest speed bursts ever on the 7000 using the 2992kb test:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 1286 Kbps about 1.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 157 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server2)

Bottom Line:: 23X faster than 56K 1MB download in 6.52 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 42.26 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com)

Upload is a little slow, however.

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 106 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 579 kB)

Upload Speed is:: 13 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1)

Test Time:: Tue Feb 14 2006 17:16:17 GMT-0500 (US Eastern Standard Time)

Bottom Line:: 2X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 78.77 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 34.18 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com)
