As you can tell something is screwy with my speed. i have a 3mb line from cable one. but my downloads suck all of a suden. a few months ago they were okay but now something seems off.

Here is my download test:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 668 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 748 kB)

Download Speed is:: 82 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server2)

Test Time:: Fri Feb 10 10:51:44 MST 2006

Bottom Line:: 12X faster than 56K 1MB download in 12.49 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 22.84 % of your hosts average (cableone.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-08FENACM4

Here is my upload test:

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 273 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 97 kB)

Upload Speed is:: 33 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1)

Test Time:: Fri Feb 10 10:54:11 MST 2006

Bottom Line:: 5X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 31.03 sec

Diagnosis: Looks Great : 16.17 % faster than the average for host (cableone.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-2KYXBTAEU

Oh and i ran the nitro thingy. Here is its results:

The theoretical network limit is 2.45 Mbps

The NDT server has a 101.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 13.57 Mbps

Your PC/Workstation has a 8.0 KByte buffer which limits the throughput to 1.14 Mbps

The network based flow control limits the throughput to 1.33 Mbps

Client Data reports link is 'T1', Client Acks report link is 'T1'

Server Data reports link is '10 Gig', Server Acks report link is 'Ethernet'

As you can tell upload great, Download suck. Sometime latter today i will run virus scanner and spyware scanners in safe mode. Nothing is showing up right now as a problem. I am directly linked to the modem. When i hook it up to the router/switch, i use the switch part, it does the same speed. Do you guys have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks for any help.

To properly select values to be use with Cablenut Adjuster, you need to understand about MTU values, latency, Tcp Stack function and buffer size (RWIN).

Speed test only shows the end result, but network diagnostic test shows how the signal is processed and highlight the problem areas.

The test showed your problem is an undersized buffer which set your bandwidth limit to 1.14 Mbps. Like a small doorway for Jack's giant...(smile).
