Should I have a static IP...non-network

I setup a static IP on my single home computer (no network).  Should I have done this or should I have it setup as "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"?

Does it matter that I don't have a home network or am I totally not making any sense.  Please help.

So you are directly connected to the modem? Does the package you have with your isp include a static ip? You should be find obtaining the address automatically either way.

with my isp alltel.. i can bind to as many ips that i want lol

I have a DSL Modem and what I did was go to Run, CMD, cd, then typed in ipconfig /all and found my settings to be the following:

Then what I did was set this information up as my static ip.  Should I have just left it alone?

It makes no difference... It's probably easier to leave it on Obtain Automatically though
