i just applied the cablenut tweak with the van buren css: Verizon_Fios_PPPoE_15000_2000  and now my speed is horrible.  i tried to restore the registry, and im still getting crappy speeds:

Your connection is: 9420 Kbps or 9.4 Mbps

You Downloaded at: 1150 kB/s

You are running: 168 times faster than 56K and can Download 1 megabyte in 0.89 second(s)

wow, this is getting worse.  I just deleted cablenut tweaks, and rebooted.

TCP properties for IP = 71.245.183.156 ()

Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405ac01010402

MTU = 1492

MTU is optimized for PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452

MSS is optimized for PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 17424

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 17424

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 696.96 Kbps (87.12 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 278.784 Kbps (34.848 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 123 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

yea, windows XP default RWIN when you run your NIC at 10Mbps is very low

try these settings

i suggest you leave it in "auto"

I have seen some people with w2k having speed problems with AFD tweaking

If the speed is still not good with the file i posted above, try this file

this file is not based upon AFD tweaking.

try this http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=12160&st=st&ta=&top=&nobar=1

see if that using less CPU

its a test without progressbar.

you can try lower the TcpWindowsize and GlobalMaxTcpwindowsize to 255552

Etiolate, what are the specs of your computer?

I know when I had Comcast internet on my Dell dimension 2300, (Intel celery 1.8 Ghz, 64mb on board video, 512 MB ram, 40GB HD), my speeds were very very slow (maybe 500 Kb/s range), upgraded to my custom AMD system (AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1GB ram, 160 GB HD, 40GB HD, ATI radeon 9550) $600 later, my speeds jumped to over 1Mb/s avg. from any decent server with the same connection. And yes that was in Firefox

With most of today's basic computers even, I don't see why the CPU would be getting used up that much unless there are some adware/spyware type problems involved.
