I dunno. Firefox is just slow for me. I can watch everything on the page being loaded, even with Fasterfox's "turbo" setting. It's almost like dial-up with a speed booster.  :haha:  :haha:  :haha:

My ISP advertises 5Mbps on the downstream.  I test from the BAF server in NYC because it has low traffic and an optimized route for me, although it is still a considerable distance away.  The above are consecutive tests, with identical software configuration on my PC.

I have always found IE to yield better speeds, at a more consistant rate.  I have used the Fasterfox extenstion before (among others....most of which were terrible or stupid, which contributed to why I have stopped using FF), and it doesn't seem to do much for me.

I have said this before, but I'll say it again.  I prefer IE because I can troubleshoot 99.9% of issues with it.  It is a very stable program, with total support coverage, and constant feed of updates/patches.  FF does not profess to be a stable/good browser as much as it professes to be an IE killer.  IMO, any product which exists simply to provide competition for its predecessor, will never be as good as its predecessor.  Cool, it is open-source...but that doesn't mean you have a panel of geniouses engineering your product.

BTW, Fasterfox operates by caching web-based data.  So in theory, it should not affect your download speed at all.

nope, it doesn't actually effect downloading, and it uses multiple connections to websites to gain speed, for me firefox works great /w fasterfox, i don't use winblows anyway so IE isn't an option but i remember always hating it and using FF on windows anyway and actually mozilla patches things much faster than microsoft, i read an article on it on slashdot.org
