I moved to my grandparents and now im not connected straight to my modem anymore. Im using a Linksys Wireless G router with Speed booster... The router is on my grandmas computer and i have the network card. Back at home i was getting close to 200 Kbps a second download (when it was the westel moden right into my comp) and now im this...

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 721 Kbps about 0.72 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)

Download Speed is:: 88 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net  (Server 1)

Test Time:: 2006/04/15 - 1:30pm

Bottom Line:: 13X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 11.64 sec

Tested from a 386 kB file and took 4.39 seconds to complete

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 14.05 % of your hosts average (verizon.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-X5E6BLVOQ

that really REALLY upsets me... am i to expect this or are there some things i can do to tweek// settings to change to boost that performance. Im not going to be very satisified with that.

I am confused. You are getting 721Kbps and your were getting 200Kbps. And now your slower?  :confused2:

I would assume that you meant the 88kB/s. Have you tried it without the router to see if the router is the problem?  ;)

What are grandma's advertised speeds?

Are you virus and spyware clean? Have you used a registry cleaner? Have you defragged lately? Have you tried to tweak it with cablenut? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013
