I am running 2 PC's and 2 xbox's directly out of the Westell 327w Router/Modem issued to me by Verizon. How can I optimize this connection for gaming? (especially upload for hosting purposes) Should I be using a bandwith limiter on the computers? Does my router need some adjusting? Any tweaks or advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

First welcome to the forums.. interesting title on this thread..

As far as your connection..  DSL isnt the greatest.. I am going to guess that you have the 3/768 package.. However, that is if you are really close to the CO and you dont have tons of line noise.. As far as hosting.. it isnt going to be all that great from a residential line to begin with.. To many problems with P2P traffic on the DSLAM so unless Verizon is Shaping their traffic.. it is possible to be fine on minute and then you ping/lag to shoot through the roof.

You could, depending on the router, Shape your network so that the Xboxes have a higher priority on the network than the computers.. That could make a slight difference..  There isnt a whole lot to optimize your connection for the xboxes.. but you can check out the Make It Faster board for how to optimize your computers.  If you are really want to host games you are going to need a dedicated connection such as T1.. Something where you have 100% of the bandwidth 100% of the time.
