Wal-Mart to sell build-your-own computers

ROM-DOS

Recommended Posts

Think about it, the guy would not be buying from WM if he knew how-to put the damn thing together , hell most likely sitting at the kitchen table cussin his kids as he dropps the HDD, when he finally fires it up, oops no thermal grease on the CPU as it looked like it may get messy. The average man will not read the instructions.  Perfect double sale on the cpu :haha: :haha:

:haha: :haha:

Hey guy's It can only be for the good, Just wish this was availible in the UK, I can still remember building my first puter . now 20+ on , and getting blase about doing this, and every one fired up problem free,

I just recon we all have to start somewhere, some will win and I guess some will fail, thats life, I recomend people to buy a G.P. puter from  a local superstore as I cant beat their price, but within the year I gett called to sort out and reload the system,

well, the getting called out to reload the os is because the user clicks on every yes button he can find, surfs with admin rights and no av firewall and ends up with 12 internet explorer toolbars and every available piece of spyware from bonzibuddy to gators clock and god knows what else installed. "My 'puter boots slow and doesn't run so fast." "well, you've got 235 processes running at startup..." :evil6:

Last time I looked Wally World was already selling boxed PC's.

However that was quite a while ago and I sure was not gonna

buy one of those, HP or Compaq.

:haha: :haha: :haha:

Hi Paladin, with respect, nothing wrong with a brand puter, yes they are not for me, it's the lack of ability of the user that is the problem, but saying that, is a puter just like a fridge, Hoover or anyother consumer appliance ,do you really have to join Testmy.net just to be able to use it ?, I think things have gone wrong somewere down the line, most of my "friends " just want to book tickets, look up info. etc. they have no interest in the technicalities of how and why, and for that they have my sympathy, just my thoughts please feel free to disagree

Roco:  My puter came in a box but it was built to my spec's by

Sys Tech and was built with the brand parts that I picked.  I

have had it for about 15 mos now and I have had not one iota

of trouble with it.  I keep it well protected though.  I just have no

use for an HP or Compaq.  Friends have had problems with them.

ouch so true Reso, me, I fit in the twiddler cat, been like that since I was a kid,

as I guess most of T.N. members are,

but I tell you what that H.P. I reloaded, was 100 points clear of my puter usuing  performance test, and it had a 5.4 rpm hd, and a lousey vid card,

kinda made me feel a bit sick, it was a joy to run, still thinking about it I built this box 2 trouble free years back, guess things move on, but I gona leave it alone for a year or 2, as things seem to be changing fast at the moment, whats 64bit, vista etc. gonna let the dust settle b4 , the next build

Hi Palidin, I still stand by my comments that brand puters are OK for general use, I have many Dell/Compaq etc puters pass through my lowly workshop some getting on for 10 years old , they never had any hardware problems,

after all no manufacturer would routinly fit sub standard parts, and most parts come from China these days, wether designed for brand or home build,

the main problem is the operator ,or in truth the imperfect O/S

Yep admitting to that is not very smart.

Big Brother might be listening and he can listen to

just about anything now whether he is legal to

or not.

If I were you Dark I would zip it but, then I am not you.
