How much faster is FireFox than I.E. on your machine!!!

MICROWAVE

Recommended Posts

:) I am interested in the difference in speeds of FireFox and I.E. I think F.F. will always be faster but, by how much if this is true. On my machine F.F. is over 100 KB/s faster and that doesnt seem right 2me. Until the other day the speeds were very close, I have reinstalled I.E and checked everything and find no problems but how can it be this much slower>

Well for me,Firefox is only installed on my laptop and it averages around 4.8Mbps,while on my PC I use Avant but also take tests with IE,and just until recently IE was faster while taking tests, but now with Avant I average 5.1-5.3Mbps so I have no idea which is faster while taking speed tests. But I know when I download files Firefox is faster, atleast in the beginning, with downloads starting at 1500KB/s.

I just took a test with Firefox and got this,so its very confusing, all my browsers have their moments :haha:

microwave, what is yor advertised cap?

might there actually finally be a valid reason to lose ie in favor of opensource?

:) I pay for 3000/256 but just got raised 4free to 4000/512  well to me so far it seems to prove 2me that I have some problem in I.E. that I cant find yet....Grrrrrrr  I like Fire Fox its just I'm used to using I.E. and I have I. E. tricked out and it does things that  F.F. doesn't do 4me.......... Ya gotta remember I'm an old fart that has used I.E. forever I dont  like change I know where everything is and ....... I'm being stubborn I guess and until recently there wasn't much difference in the speeds, I dont even mind formatting my drive that much although I agree it really shouldn't be necessary very often..............but I am using FF more and more so I guess only time will tell.....Hell I even still have an old manuel typewriter that I use from time 2 time.....OK see right now I'm getting ready to use spell check.....how do I do that with F.F. ?

FireFox is the SHIT!  :headbang:  --- IE used to be better for me too Van...  but now there really is no comparison.  Also, I just scanned with Microsoft Anti-Apyware Beta so there is no spyware in IE... just incase someone thinks that maybe my IE is fucked up or something.

My FireFox speeds are identical to my IE6 (SP2) speeds.  No diff at any time of day or night.  In fact, the same applies to Opera and all of the other "popular" minibrowsers out there.  They don't offer my system any additonal speed in the least.  BUT ...I am an unwilling DirecWay user, and Satellite Internet is a whole different animal as compared to DSL or RoadRunner or ????

Cheers!
