different speeds

Why is it that I can run several tests and they all differ with my speeds? What's the dealio? :icon_pale:

http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ gets the below:

WEB100 Enabled Statistics:

and to top it off dslreports.com (speakyeasy test cox has me test through them...)

dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-07-07 00:02:56 EST:

4272 kbps

I get about the same speeds from both.

Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 20.579 seconds to complete

im subscribed to Smart BRO w/c uses the fixed wireless technology of motorola canopy here in the philippines... advertised speed is 384kbps at 999pesos per month...thats about US$20. upload speed is almost the same as download speed.

how much do you pay monthly for your connection??? your connections are pretty fast!!! that kind of fast connection isnt affordable to home users here in the phil. if im not mistaken a 3mbit/s connection here would cost you 12000pesos or more or less US$230.00 per month

Understandable that the distance does make a difference.  I live in Az so the speak easy (in california)  should definately be faster as I believe testmy.net is through tx.  I don't get why most of the time testmy.net reports a faster download though.  Being on Cox (a cable connection) I know that bandwith gets ate up and all that fun stuff and this is why I test at different times/days...I want to make sure that I'm getting what I paid for bottome line!  Either way, I suppose that if it was a dedicated line I'd be able to isolate what I think is an issue. :angry5:
