After tweaking my system ( dont know what that means ), these are my new results.  I think I used MSN explorer for the first test.  I noticed that AOL isnt as good as IE or MSN at certain things, how is that? I clean out my computer regularly anyway.  My speed has increased, but how is it that Im not getting the full 2mb.  Is this test completely accurate, Ive always used it but my friend has said that she gets different results on different testing sites.

Ive run the test a few more times, without restarting my computer and the speed has increased again.  It seems pretty constant this time.  How is it that it changed over the course of 10 mins or so?

it could  have just been a bad test the first time, you should always run it a few time. and since your on DSL 1.8mbps is probally going to be about the max your going to get.

try running this test. http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php?step1_timed=&step1_size=&step1_validation=&testall=&s=5983&st=st&ni=ni&ta=&top=&tt=1&nobar=

Those are the results which are again better.  Why were those results different?  It also says that Im only running at 30%, but is that just in general with all AOL users (inc. citites and what not, which I imagine would be faster) because Ive only got 2mb broadband, untill next week -(very excited)  Why is the AOL software different from using other web browsers?

those results are different becuase with a larger file you get a more accurate result becuase it has more time to test the download speed.

dont worry about it saying your running at 30% that is just a average of all AOL users and some tests from aol get 10mbps. the reason AOL software is different becuse it does local caching on aol servers so most of the time you get a insanely fast result that you dont really have. but in your case you got a slower result which makes me think that the cach server has alot of traffic on it and it was slowing you down, testing throught another browser like IE does not use aols cach servers so you get a real result.

anyways nice speed that is were you should be.  :D
