Ookla Speedtest.net shows my speed as:

Ping 22ms

81.81 Mbps down

11.81  Mpbs up

I pay $80 USDlrs for 100  Mbps down to Cox Communication - Both the Century Link and Cox are advertising 1 Gig service on the radio, but that is only available in a new expensive housing areas where new fiber has been installed, and also where it was previously installed and activated before the housing bubble collapsed.

This is the speed I am getting, came here via an article which has featured testmy.net in one of the top internet speed test sites, checked the results twice (the results scared me in the first test :-P), the upload speed is Okay but the download speed should be more as I am paying for more, this is what I am getting,:

Conducted the test once more, this time the speed increased up to 3 folds:

Paying $89 CAD with Xplornet's 25mbps package. (Have $10 off for a year.) Overall, it's been good. Way better than their old 4G network. I noticed that it takes about 2-3 seconds for it to peak up and its sometimes go up to 40-50 mbps. For a Sunday evening, it's really good. Usually getting constant 20-25mbps when I'm downloading and it never really went slow so far. One day I was getting 10-12mbps for about an hour then it went back up to the proper speeds.

anyone can tell me that satellite companies give more than 22 mb download speed?

Thank you !

Your test results are the fastest I've seen to date for satellite Internet!

The problem with satellite Internet is that most of the country is covered by just a few spot beams from the satellite, each with around 1Gbps of capacity, which needs to be shared amongst the subscribers connected on a particular spot beam.  To give an idea of the spot beam size, 1 spot beam covers Ireland.  Another issue is that the dish itself can only handle 22Mbps down and 6Mbps up on the KA Band based on what I'm reading, with faster speeds requiring a much larger dish.

Here in Ireland, some satellite providers struggle to even provide 1Mb during peak times due to over-subscribing their service.  Going by Tooway's own Professional Services document, they only guarantee a minimum bandwidth of 512kbps down and 128kbps up on their highest capacity enterprise plan, which is also restricted to 125GB per month, so to be getting close to the subscribed speed is very impressive for satellite and probably means there are just a small number of subscribers in your part of the country using a Tooway-based satellite ISP.

At&T uVerse 45Mbps $77.00 per month. Bandwidth Utilization from TestMy.net:

Average download Mbps: 39.2 Mbps

Average upload Mbps: 4.9 Mbps

Combined Test: 32.1 Mbps Down/5.2 Mbps Up

How does this compare with anybody who has Time Warner 50 Mbps package?

Eric. I have the TWC 50/5 plan package. In Cincinnati. Depending on time of day, and which test server I set in TestMy, I get a low of about 30-35 Mbps (sometimes lower) during peak usage hours. At off-peak hours, it's usually between 48-53 Mbps. I get 5.6 or so upload.

Hi, I pay 10$ /month for unlimited download/upload, and I have an actual speed of 100/90 Mbits/s upload/download

This speed is sustained and has high quality and low latency all across the board.

Check this provider, RDS/RCS Romania - Only available there, of course, but puts to shame about 90% of the world

PS: After a double check, you can after all have 500 Mbps Download and 200Mbps Upload in a single pack, with an appropriate router that the Telco will provide, and all of that for 39 RON, which is about 10$ :)

Here's the link, and I've lived there for a couple of years and never had (or heard of) any performance issues in internet access from anyone. Top quality service at a truly fair price.
