Download speed totally took a dive.....

Recommended Posts

I'm using Windows XP

My Internet Service Provider is SMART BRO and the advertised speed for download is 384kbps.

I installed Cablenut 4.08, and here is the result of analyzer:

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

TCP properties for IP = xxx.xx.xxx.xxx ()

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)

Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

64240 (MSS x 44) <-- current value

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 118 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

Here is the results from testmy.net:

Try this test, and clean out your temp files before clicking on it.

Top of browser*Tools*internet Options*Delete Files including Offline Content*OK*OK*Now test.

Are you using a router, if so try directly to the modem.

Also what type of connection are you using? Cable*Satelite*DSL*ISDN*Wireless* etc...

its easy, on the general  settings tab of TCPoptimizer, just move the slider to the advertised speed of  smart bro then make sure that the PPPoE  (below the MTU box) was checked, then click on the optimal settings on the lower right corner and finaly left click apply changes...

is your location near or far from a cellsite? I've heared that your Smart Bro connection gets weaker as go you farther  from a local cellsite..I am just 50 yards away from a cellsite so I got the best signall possible..

if still TCPoptimizer doesnt help you.. I guess you should call *1888 using a smart sim and tell them you need tech support, tell them their service sucks! and call them names! ^_^

Smart Bro is the latest service of Smart, the leader in wireless innovation. It is a high-speed broadband internet service covered by the nation's widest cellular coverage of Smart Communications.

The service is made possible by installing a Smart Bro antenna at your home with a direct "line-of-sight" to the nearest Smart cellsite offering the strongest possible radio frequency transmission. As the service is now available from Smart cellsites nationwide, more households can enjoy a high-speed internet broadband connection without the need for a physical cable or a phone line.

With speeds that are up to 7X faster than any dial-up internet connection, it make ssurfing and chatting so much faster and easier! Now you can research for your much needed school projects, chat with your friends on any instant messaging program or even play on-line games at speeds you canonly dream of on dial-up!
