I Think That test server is pertty accurate.

tommie;If you look in the dial-up section I posted 2 topics on the NDT web 100 test.These are the best info I found on reading the results of that test.For me it is always faster than my connection actually is but is good to check for packet loss & to see how it reads you RWIN.

bryanlautt ;This was done at the site in your link.It says I have a Cable/DSL modem but I have a 56K internal modem.This is not a suprise because this test reads it this way at its other test sites.I'm putting in a link that hsa several sites for this test.These will have a lot more information on your test.

I use the one in this box Other Available Servers: the Abilene ones don't work for me I think they are for faster connections but I'm not sure.

My ISP is Midcontinent or Midco.net  I use the NDT test located in Madison, Wisconsin on the Charter servers.  The link is here

first they mark it as kb/s insted of kbps. and my upload is not even close to that my modem is capped at 512kbps there is no way i could ever get that fast.

bryanlautt what is your advertised speed, and what speed do you get from testmy.net?

well since re installing XP on this laptop...its been consistent....lol

consistently slow...advertised speed is 5000 up and about 640 down

been getting this

Download Speed is:: 333 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

Test Time:: 2006/10/23 - 4:34pm

Bottom Line:: 48X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 3.08 sec

Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 8.983 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: 90% + Okay : running at 96.94 % of your hosts average (embarqhsd.net)

used cable nutz and tcp optimizer and a few other tweaks...nothing seems to help,...
