difference between wireless isp and wireless lan?

Welcome to the Forum gperete!

As far as the question goes..  You will not be able to connect to a wireless ISP's network with a standard wifi card..  The reason.. 802.16.. Or long haul wifi..  Pretty much this is 802.11, the wireless for consumers, on steroids..  It is made to go up to 30 miles..  On top of that you need to have line of sight to the antenna for wireless ISPs to work.

thank you very much. now i know that i have to include a wireless router in my setup.
