I need help with the verizon FiOS service

I just got my connection installed today... and i'm testing my speeds in many servers and i get the same speeds:

Download Connection is:: 2106 Kbps about 2.1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

Download Speed is:: 257 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 2)

Test Time:: 2006/10/31 - 3:07pm

Bottom Line:: 37X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 3.98 sec

Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 11.64 seconds to complete

I have the 5/2 service in September, and have been getting a pretty stable 5/2 ever since. I am sharing it over the Actiontec router, and an Airport Extreme with OS X Macs, and XP PCs.

The speed optimizer works well.

I have not run wire nut on PCs or Macs, or any kind of speed optimizer on the Macs.

You should be getting much better than that.

Try the Verizon speed optimizer.

And if you still don't get full speeds(or at least 90% ), I would give them a call.  Their reps are very nice..I have only had to call them once because my router freaked out when updating my firmware, but they were extremely courteous, and unlike my old Cable provider, they don't treat you like a moron....They may just need to make a minor adjustment at their end.

Your pleasant experience with Verizon is not the norm...you should consider yourself very lucky as any Verizon customer will tell you...they are not known for being...competent, helpful and certainly not nice.  I'm glad your experience was nice....maybe Verizon finally is getting the idea...I doubt it...but just maybe!  :cool:

When I had their phone service everytime I called them it was a bad experience.

They probably are not as nice as I think, but  compared to OOL's techs, they kiss my ass.  I probably just got so used to being treated like a piece of s#%t by OOL.

Edit:  I am also not sure if the techs for Fios are the same ones for the other Verizon services...Perhaps the Fios techs are not the same...

I must say, from the online ordering of Fios, to the installers (2 that came out and were installing everything the way I wanted, they even set me up for the switch to Vopnage that I did myself), to the quality of connection I have been very happy so far with Fios.

The only thing I will say is that I orginally signed up for the 5 meg service, and was looking to bump it up to the 15 meg service and found I couldn't do it online, I have to wait until Monday and cal them.

Seems strange that this high tech service isn't fully on line capable.

But so far very happy.

I've only had to call them once, so I don't really have enough calls to base my opinion of their customer service.  But, the one that I did call was extremely courteous, to a degree that OOL techs could never reach.  I suppose if I had to call more often, I would run into a bad one, but so far the installers, the immediate support for setting it up, and the 1 call I had to make because of a bad firmware upgrade,  have all been good ones.

I haven't had to make one call about poor service or an outage(almost a year)  :lol:

30/5 we asked for, and that is what we get 24/7  :cheesy:

I think its either $49 or $55, I can never remember.... I have to dig out the bill and see which one it is..

It's not even close to $180 here, and we have the phone over the fiber as well..

Do you have the 30/5 or 15/2?

Yea....OOL really sounds like they suck the giant banana and that is really too bad.  I would like to get my hands on that support department for 90 days....just 90 days  :knuppel2: ....I have this allergy to cold tho....I DON'T LIKE IT....so FL is where I stay....
