Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1. OS: Windows XP 2. ISP: Verizon 15/2 3. Thanks again for the help. I was using my spare computer while my was down. It was a Pll 350MHZ 124ram. My speeds were 4/384. But on this comp. I was lucky to get 1.5 down. I've even thought about moving to the nearest place that Fios is or will be available. I mean, really... I have an uncle who works at Embarq, our local phone provider, and he's been pushing for dsl to expand into our area for years now, but apparently they'd rather focus on those who have broadband already... I am a bit confused here. but DSL can only go 18,500 feet before they have to put in a remote DSLAM (very expensive) cable has really no distance limit so they dont have to put in a CMTS every 20,000 feet. sx7 Posted December 11, 2006 CID Share Posted December 11, 2006 Actually I forgot to mention that according to my uncle, Embarq was set to expand dsl into my area early in 2007, but it got dropped because of budget issues. blah... I don't think they'd have to lay new lines where I'm at. I think we already have fiber optic lines down my road (at least the orange and white marker at my driveway says so). Think about it. Lets say $150,000 worth new equipment to get to you and people around you. Well you would probably pay them $50 max a month. So it would be a big loss.
