HN7000S Switch

Recommended Posts

Hughes Net has finally got me so flustered with my speed during peak hours that I have switched from the DW4000 to HN7000S Pro Plan. You guys seem to be happy with it. What are your speed during peak hours? Of course upload has always been a joke. Any complains with the HN7000S. Thanks

Private, I'm gathering these are your 7000S results. I am satisfied with my Hughes service and always have been since I fist used sat for internet in 1999 and especially now that I no longer have a phone line, literally. Almost everyday I run 2 or 3 spyware programs and I defrag at least twice a week which seems to help keep my test scores up. You can't control how many use the system but you can control how your PC runs. As for uploading what do you think it should be? Here are some of mine from myhughesnet but if the system is working I don't check, its just curiosity, besides, every time you test there many variables.

These would not be acceptable speeds to me at no given time...I use the older 7000, see very little slow down during peak hours but even so still should be no less than 700/150. Have you removed all previous software that was connected with the DW4000?

Yes that was my DW4000 speeds during peak times. I was getting 1 to 2 meg. before it changed to Hughes. I see where some of you are getting over 1 meg. download on the pro plan. That was one reason I switched. Also fed up with spending several hours on the phone with tech. support to get my freg. changed and then in two weeks have to do it all over again.. They finally worn me down. I have no other option, if I want internet access.

Many are hanging on, why I don't really know. Many expensive items people own they don't even think about keeping, they just upgrade. An upgrade also gives you a warranty on the new part (only $50 for a modem) and for the ODU I'm still using mine from the original 4000 install about 6 years ago. I also did some cheap buying for new replacement parts, transmitter, LNB, and dish. I have spent more on one nights dinner for the family and after you eat we all know where it goes. And nobody buys new phones, cars, TV's and so on. I have a older tube type radio and the manufacturer won't give me any help.  :protest:

The most problems I see (the system works but it is not DSL) are a lacking install or poor PC maintenance.

This is the reason for switching from DW4000 to HN7000S

Hope I get better speed from it than this. Sure hated to give up my DW4000. Should be getting the HN7000S Pro Account in a few days.

I am on Satmex 5, Support says not bad speed and upper leval said wait 8 hours to see if any improvement. Still have same dish that came with my dw4000, no water in anlog.

I had a reprsentive from Hughes transfer from my DW 4000 to HNS7000. So nothing wrong with switch over.

India supports says check use proxiy server box and install book says uncheck? Which is correct?

This sucks.

Isn't this peak time for Hughesnet though? I bet that will bounce back up to where it should be around midnight.

I thought they were supposed to hold close to the speed during the day is what I heard from so many as to why they were so much better to have instead of the 4000 or 6000!  I might as well stay with the 6000, and no extra cost. At least that is what I have heard so much of on here from others.  :tickedoff:

That is horrible private, I get those speeds already.

Yes I am still on satmex5 freq 970. I don't see how my spped could improve being on same bird and freq I understant most DW7000 are on SatMax6. Also I cannot use Firfox anymore get the message, The proxy server is refusing connections all the time. Anyone know a way around this. How can I change my signature?

I could get between 1 and 1.3 meg with my DW4000 after peak time. Will try to get Hughes to switch me to  SatMex 6. I hope.

So private, did they put you an a different bird than what you were on then? If so I definately don't want to switch. Mine has not ever been bad.

From what I hear from the Hughesnet users is if it ain't broke don't fix it. Because whenever you switch you are always risking either an improvement and then there is that "other" result.

Shhh....we do not say that ( "other" ) word around here now.

I don't remember anyone ever getting good speeds on Sat Mex.  :-|

  • 2 months later...

I just read this in another string so I figured I might add it here. Go into interntet options, connections, lan settings and get rid of the proxy settings there and click automaticly detect proxy. I am not sure what you will have to do about firefox and if that will fix it or not.

I'm afraid this won't help you be enthused to much but this was takin during peak time and during moderate rainfall so taking that into account I guess it isnt to bad. Also my pings stay under 750 aside from an occasional server sputter and thas jusy one ping in a string of 20.

Arg...I didn't ever think I would say this...But I would kill for those ping times.

Tommie when you change modems  you stay on same bird and Transponder. I requested the re point of dish. They also changed radio transmitter on the dish. Hughes paid for the service call. I have been talking with Excutive Customer Care trying to get slow speed resolved. They are great to work. I just had a big problem finding out who to contact.
