I have found that many times Officers in companies are intimidated buy intelligence shown of other fields other than in their little lawn so they tend not to use your help or steer clear. Heres how: ( I have attempted to keep it to a level most can understand ) You have a Linksys wireless router that broadcasts a signal that is received from any computer equipped with a wireless network card or adapter. ( attached file ------ linksys-pic.jpg) The signal broadcast by your equipment (router) also sends signals to a variety of users within the range of that signal (line of sight )-- for free. ( attached file ------ Wi-Fi_logo.jpg) This, therefore, creates a (access point) hot spot from which others, which may include your employees, may access your router and the Internet. According to the last known configuration of the equipment (router); Your computer is not shown as part of the wireless signal that is broadcast. So in no way does it affect Caminars files and or security concerns. To satisfy your concerns you could always do an audit of your files and or records on the computer connected to the equipment (router). It is advisable that you have your router configured correctly to broadcast a signal that is not accessible by the public and up to 54 or 255 users via open airwaves (settings within the router determines number of users). Back in July 2006, your Exec Dir in Nevada said "would not allow me to have access to the Internet installed into my room because of security concerns and that a hot spot that can be accessed by others". ( quote is shown below in a attached graphic file----- isp-scan.jpg ) The above information makes your past denial and present attitudes laughable. You Already have been providing a hot spot (AP) because your equipment (router) is broadcasting a signal over open airwaves that are accessible by anyone. ( It has been broadcast a Open Airwaves signal that I know of: July 2006 to Feb 2007 ) I and Others want to Thank You for providing this free means of Internet access. I did have other Internet access via Cellular Data that had not a thing to do with Caminar, Inc. You should be very concerned that someone that is a hacker or is otherwise destructive has not accessed your system and done major damage. Allowing the signal to be broadcast without a form of security is foolhardy. (The router broadcasts as: "linksys" "open network" "no encrypt" ) My bet is that you did not know about it ! Because if you did, the very circumstances that you complain about would not exist because you would not have created them. granpa Posted March 12, 2007 CID Share Posted March 12, 2007 If a little monetary reimbursement you were hinting to them about, than too much information. You should of told them they had a network security leak you found by just being a neighbor and being well versed in the field could repair it for them at a fraction of cost and keep their system secure. But I believe you have informed them and if the signal continues, are there any places to rent within range for a short term, I might like to get out of this cold for a short time and keep in touch at home.
