Hi guys im new here but have been following quite a few topics on tweaking speeds...well im actually frustrated on my speed considering ive done evrything like scanning the com 4 spyware and virus,dl cablenut 4.08 and just bout evry solution posted by Van Buren,and im still confused on many stuff regarding which i ll go thru later,sum1 pls help me..thks :D

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 116 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 386 KB)

Download Speed is:: 14 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 2 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 73.14 second(s)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=O3TB4HYZ9

Well the thing is most of the time im gettin in between 100 -200 kbps,and ive touch the 500 mark just twice  :(  ive register for a 10mb package...ive even try tcp/ip optimizer but still doesnt help anything...

hey z3phyr and welcome to the forum :)

follow these steps and post again

1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp SP1, SP2

2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload.

3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks  copy and paste result URL  adress in your post!

5. What speed do you have against www.testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/  also make a tracert, go to start-run type command and hit enter, type tracert testmy.net and hit enter, right click copy all and paste it in your post.

Well im currently running WIndows XP SP2,hmm well im kinda confused by the second question :D im sorry if i bother askin u but im kinda new... :D Im currently usin cablenut 4.08 b4 tht was tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide..oso usin wireless broadband..

2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload.

what i mean is

do you have DSL or Cable?

How fast does your Internet Service Provider say you have ( what speed do you pay for ) ?

you have a 120 ms ping to your gateway

unplug power to modem and router for 30 seconds, then plug in power again

now do a new treace route and post result

also run this test  http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks  when you get result, copy URL adress and paste it here so we can see it

.s1 is right,  your wireless network could be the slow point.  If you can you should hook your system up directly,  get your tweaks done and find out what your best tested speeds are.  After that start working with your wireless side to see how much it slows down.

Are you wireless b or g?  What router or access point do  you have?  Wireless networks rated speed is NEVER close to the actual speed and it can get reall slow over distances.  If your running B  and your covering any distance or have lots of interference you might be lucky to get 1-2Mps from it.  If you let us know what router you have I might be able to find something on what you should expect.

:(  Well im really confused by all this stuff........anywayz my advertise speed is 10MB,router....well i dont think i have a router because mine is just basically connected 2 the com and can be used right away....no other connections needed..Im not usin a repeater either,mine should be a DSL too.. and when i try the tweak tester it always says fail to download or the server mayb busy..but ive try plenty of times :(

Well here it is..

TCP options string = 020405b40103030101010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 1460

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)

Unscaled Receive Window = 730

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 58.4 kbps (7.3 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 23.36 kbps (2.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 118 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

Well suprisingly it went up :?

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 400 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 386 KB)

Download Speed is:: 49 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 7 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 20.9 second(s)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=8KCG97LWB

BOut the analyzer it always shows the samething and the ip add is diff from mine,but when i check for any proxys,its always untick....so basically theres no proxys..

Well that indicates you connecting via another server, and your speed will be limited by the settings that server has

i would leave my settings as default, as you have them now

also call your ISP and ask if this is the speed they provide to you
