Onelink's ridiculous speeds....

Recommended Posts

In past weeks I noticed that p2p service was restricted supposedly to improve speeds for all the services that Onelink is offering (Powerlink and VOIP)  After that, I'm getting ridiculous speeds all nights. Below are my "wonderful" stats.  Do someone know what is happening at Onelink?

======================================

Your connection is: 335 Kbps or 0.3 Mbps

You downloaded at: 41 kB/s

You are running: 6 times faster than 56K and can download 1 megabyte in 24.98 second(s)

Test Time:: 2007/04/30 - 6:07pm

Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30)

Test ID: HKWIRV786 (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake)

Diagnosis ^info^: May need help : running at only 14.55 % of your hosts average (onelinkpr.net)

This was tested from a 386 kB file and took 9.453 seconds to complete

I  agree, the speed has been horrendous for these few days. Everything has been screwed up since they started their VOIP and began throttling the P2P speeds have been very slow. I called OneLink and they just said they were restricting bandwidth to allow for "better speeds for the general public". I told the guy they were offering 4Mbps but they weren't complying. He just said they didn't guarantee speeds =), no minimum (so if it wants to be 4KBs download then so be it). Getting very annoying... maybe DACO can do something... (DACO is a consumer protection agency by the way for those that don't know).

EDIT:

We pay for 1st class service and we get a 3rd class service.  May be it's time to "upgrade" to Dial-Up. :grin:

Service                             Advertised Tested Speed Service Level

Dial-Up                         =   56 Kbps  48   Kbps 85.71%

Onelink Puerto Rico      =  3Mbps 463 Kbps 15.07%

Dang, that makes my old satelite set up look fast. Up for sale.  :laugh:

But really, is there nothing else available?

there is shitty dsl in some places and everywhere else just crappy dialup. you can consider yourself lucky if you can get onelink.

i have noticed for the last week that the speeds in the evening hours have dipped. otherwise i get fairly solid performance. the outages for the last few months have been down to slightly more than power outages.

See how good the speed is? It takes a dive in the evenings and nights and it's getting very annoying. I know Cable can take dips like this when there is too much traffic but this is ALWAYS.  And actualy Resopa (hehe), most of the island has DSL, except of course some more remote places, etc. I guess 70% can access DSL... but yeah, dial up is shitty haha.
