I meant mac pro

Dell XPS

1.86Ghz Core 2 Duo

1gb ram (4GB max)

320GB hard dirve

256MB 8600GT

single dvd drive

$2629

Apple Mac Pro

Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon

1GB ram (16GB max)

500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s

ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB

One 16x SuperDrive

The mac has 2 dual core processors the dell only 1 dual core processor, The dell can only do 4GB of ram, the mac 16GB, the dell only 2 hard drives the mac can fit 4, the dell does 2 video cards, the mac can do 4.

so for the extra $119 you get alot more.

Heh well Dell's got em beat on more cheaper models  :buck2:

I'm not a big fan of dell/HP/gateway any way I prefer to just buy my own parts and make em much cheaper.

My PC only costed me 400$~ and from dell it woulda been around 900-1000$. I just used an old case though for a new one woulda brought my pc up to between 500-550$

i think they charge you for like the software they put on it and stuff. and labor costs etc. and yeah i agree building them yourself is way better

it works great, but it has one problem thats annoying. this is a laptop, and when i return from sleep it likes to hang, and max out cpu. turning off the dream scene then turning on again fixes it, but im not gonna keep dealing with it. other than that i LOVE vista, not a single prob, and it performs better than XP did on here by a long shot. not sure what the quirk is with the dream scene. its not that big a deal to me. if i can use it great, if not, i wont miss it.

just the standard ones from off the same website you DL dreamscenes for. like i said, its not so much when you run it, its when the puter returns from sleep that it seems to hang and have an issue. thats the only time, when the computer returns from sleep. otherwise, its works fine. but, its not that big  a deal. its not important enough to me to worry about. i am still perfectly happy with Vista even with out the dream scene.
