well , hi im new to this testmy.net and i just tested my cable for the speed.

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 3153 Kbps about 3.2 Mbps (tested with 748 KB)

Download Speed is:: 385 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Fri Jan 28th 2005 9:54 AM GMT

Bottom Line:: 56X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.66 sec

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=CINUQYT4A

Im new and im not too sure if this is a good speed for .com.sg ( singapore )

does anyone think i should tweak it with the cablenut settings for better results ? will it slow me down if the settings is wrongly done ?

Yea, your connection should be almost double what you're getting.  :-|

Install the cablenut files https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64

Aswell as these settings https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=101

Unzip the settings to C:ProgramCablenut after installing cablenut.

Open up Cablenut Adjuster, and click Load Custom Setting File, in the file section at the top.

browse to C:ProgramCablenutvanburens_cablenut_settings_version_2VanBurens cablenut settings Version 2WinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1460

Double click on Cable & DSL 5000 768

Click save to registry, and restart your PC.

Try the test again, and post results.

hey mistkron and welcome to the forum :)

we need to find the correct MSS value for you

open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry and reboot, reboot your modem and router for 30 seconds too

now run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks

copy result URL adress and paste it here so we can see it

you have some re transmissions so the route is probl not the best, but try this

download this attached file, unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut

open cablenut, in top left corner, click file, click load custom setting, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubble click on the file you unzipped

now click save to registry and reboot, also reboot modem for 30 seconds

make a new tweaktest and post result URL, and make a speedtest up and down

good luck

xp2 is installed on xp if you use the windows update feature. It is not necassary unless you REALY care about security... It has tons of added features to help keep it "secure" but i personaly (along with millions of others,lol)  do not like it one bit.

sp2 is horrible..why would you reccomend it..

Thats a myth, im using SP2 and pull 9.2 Mbps all the way from Sweden  ;)

http://www.dslnuts.com/

quote" Microsoft has updated the TCP/IP to include AFDParameters from the IPv4 and wont read TcpWindowSize correctley in most analyzers, what this means is that the only tool that will tweak correctley at this point is the Cablenut program. As we get more information we willl post it.

Here are the comments and link to Mnosteeles news thread.

http://www.broadbandnuts.com/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=3126

If you have additional info on the changes feel free to add to that thread..

This is also effected in all flavors of Windows 2003 server.

:) I am also one that believes that SP2 causes problems for many ppl, there was a lot of press in the beginning about this but later it was written that the problems have been solved, Its funny to me that cable nut writes about the benefits of a "tweak" that ppl had been doing b4 SP2,... although I believe that all the problems with SP2 can be solved, for a person that is computer savvy,...... what about the general population that just wants to install something and not have to mess with it? Of course I don't think Sp2 causes irreparable damage to a system, I just don't see a great advantage either.As with so many issues with computers or any thing....... there are always at least two sides of the issue, each computer user must make a decision as to which way to go, I do know that there wasn't all this discussion when Sp1 came out. No matter which way a user goes I believe that if the proper steps are taken it is p[possible to do your Internet browsing with or without Sp1 or Sp2, the only 100% guaranteed security for any computer is to lock it up in a closet and your security can be assured. The only problem is you cant use it, as with any decision I make I listen to both sides and make my choice, and if after a time I make another decision to change again I do.Thats why I'm glad I still have the freedom of choice even if I'm wrong, so flip a coin, talk to your friends and family, talk to your computer "specialist" and then decide..... remember ya can always change your mind at a later date. I have found it interesting that Sp2 has a built in feature to turn it off when it encounters a problem running something.For now I'm still running Sp1 until I think its time to change...
