@swimmer

Either way it is almost a meter.. So saying that LOS is all that you need is incorrect..  You still have to calculate for the extra meter circle at the mid point..

That is too ideal, but in real sense even a meter allowance for the radius will not matter.

Yup.. cause your wireless operates like a laser.. I forgot, my bad.  The last time I checked I am 1.9 meters aka 6' 2".  So at .85 meters you are telling me that half of my height isn't a big deal when it comes to signal propagation.

In a very short distance (in the case of beldeti, only 23 m distance to the base station with a clear visual line of sight, the  fresnel zone radius is only 0.85 meter.

First off 23 meters is not a short distance. Its 75 feet, 1/3 of the distance of just about every router.

With that the effect of fresnel zone is not that big deal given that it has a very clear visual line of sight from antenna and the base station will likely to have a clear radio line of sight.

That is so wrong its not even funny.... Do you have any idea of how many wireless signals there are around you at any given time? Even if they are not 2.4Ghz the will still interfere with the 2.4Ghz signal.

You may also have a clear line of sight to the antenna, but that doest mean a clear radio line of sight because every day things around you will create a los in signal. The grass on the ground will even cause interference.

And most people have a neighbor with 2.4Ghz and that will also mess with yours

Where did you got your "knowledge" that a computer monitor operates at 2.4 GHz??? :2funny:

Another funny thing is according to him:

" you might have a clear "visual line of sight". however, this does not mean that you have a clear "radio line of sight."

--> If you will say you have clear "visual line of sight" it means no obstructions which simply means you have clear "radio line of sight" ofcourse.

lol  :2funny:

as i suggested. kindly review any post before you quote it.

did i specify what monitor it is?

Also there are other factors which affect speed. Viruses, trojans, excessive opening of programs while browsing the internet. So clean your PC before speed testing. Also, remember that its wireless internet which is susceptible to even the most basic device such as a phone, or a monitor that operates at 2.4GHz. The interference usually is not noticeable.

here's what i was referring to

and there's a lot more!  ;)

I was thinking that momma T. It does get difficult to help in other languages.  :grin2: As I only speak English.

Some of the Puerto Rican isp areas get the same way at times.  :?

It sounds pretty much like dway satelite in the day. Nothing but troubles. All kinds of different ways to try and fix the danged things. To get better speeds. It does sound like you all have accomplished much over the last 68 pages of posts.

A lot of great stuff in there. Keep up the great work. And to be honest. All stuff will not work for everybody. I personally know this. I ran fairly fast for un known reasons. But at times this will happen. And there are those who no matter what will never achieve what others do either. But as long as info helps some. Then it was an important post none the less. Even if it does not work for a few. There are no real pat answers.

And it truly would be easier to help more if it were more in English. Thanks.  :grin2:

Even if you insist that you mean to that monitor as "radio comm equipment" operating at 2.4 Ghz,  still won't affect / interfere with the motorola antenna / canopy. SMARTBRO  uses motorola canopy lite  operating at 5.7 GHz . :idiot2::2funny:

woho! whats the matter with you guys?

@coolbuster: well i tried his 20 steps and it help me a lot!

@jun101ph:do you have your own tweaking procedure so i could test it if it "REALLY" works? "i hope its not the twisting the antenna thing to other base stations coz its much harder than sitting and applying the 20 steps"

its pretty funny when guys nag too!

Hello @dlewis

Did you know that SMARTBRO uses motorola canopy lite (as their standard device) operates at 5.7 GHz? Did you know that a device operating at 2.4 GHz band won't interfere with a 5.7 GHz band? Did you know that a signal will only interfere if they are operating at the same band of frequency?  just want to ask for your clarification.

2.4 might not but 802.11a will..  Plus on top of that 5GHz has an even shorter range and is really picky about obstructions..  That would be why most if not all long haul wireless is 2.4.

@swimmer thanx for your quick answer,

I just like to share with you this portion  of a reading material and just visit here

http://www.terena.org/events/archive/tnnc/1B/1B3/1B3.html for complete details.

"The benefits of the system are:  5.7GHz is a new and unused frequency which will not interfere with 2.4GHz, our test show that half-duplex bandwidth for UDP packets of 1500 bytes is approximately 9Mbps for up to 13km, and the equipment cost is a little more than a wireless client using Aironet equipment.  The difficulties are:  5.7GHz does not have the same range as 2.4GHz (increasing frequency means greater signal attenuation over distance), a parabolic antenna is required for distances of more than 2km, and cable length is very limited because of high signal loss with coaxial cabling at 5.7GHz. "

@swimmer

I just want to addon

Quote from a reading in a website, this is the link: http://www.silicon-press.com/briefs/brief.80211/index.html

"The two variants 802.11a and 802.1b standard are essentially similar. Because they operate in different frequency bands, 802.11a and 802.11b

    * do not interfere with each other, but

    * they are not compatible with each other. "

802.11a  ---- op. freq of  5 GHz  and  802.11b  ----- op. freq of 2.4 GHz.

Well "In my OWN OPINION" since you guys talked about freedom of speech blah blah blah.., it's hard to follow tweaks involving the kind of stuff about going up the roof dismantling, twisting your antenna to change base stations in a fact that [like me] I only have one base station i could hook up to! besides its scary on the roof you might fall, the antenna/canopy might fall or somethin then your momma's gonna scream at yah "what the hell are you doin with the antenna, get down there immediately".

As i said earlier the 20 steps is a lot more easier to do, just a matter of clicking your mouse downloading some softwares and finding the right settings, in cases that it didnt work, well maybe you DIDNT get the right settings. all you have to do is try again until it works!

Don't blame the guy if the 20 steps doesnt work for you, you could always go up the roof if you want to!  :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

edit:

changing AP's would work too but in cases that the one you are using has the highest RSSI and lowest JITTER would you change your AP to a lower one?
