10 mbps question

the hub really has no barring over the speed. The speed is determined by your network connection. Who's your provider and whats their advertised speeds? 

10 mbs really means you'll transfer at 1.21 mb/s

[  10mb x 1024 kb/s = 10240 kb/s

  10240 / 8.2 ( latency) = 1248 kb/s

  1248 kb/s / 1024 kb/s = 1.2 mb/s ]

20 mbs really means you'll transfer at 2.3 mb/s

[    20mb x 1024 = 20480 kb/s

    20480 / 8.2 ( latency) = 2497 kb/s

    2497 / 1024 kb/s = 2.43 mb/s  ]

Not to step on toes but I Read that question differentlyfrom what I read and correct me if I am wrong was you are trying to transfer faster from PC to PC Right ? Not over the net but over your Home Network

A 10 Mbps Hub will only transfer at 10 Mbps  20 if it is in full duplex mode

A 100 Mbps Hub  will only transfer at 100 Mbps 200 if it is in full duplex mode

Gigabit is 1000 Mbps

as far as i know you cant make a 10 Mbps Hub faster than 10 Mbps so my suggestion is to buy a gigabit switch 27.00 (newegg.com) and depending on your network cards in your computers a couple of Gigabit Ethernet Cards 7.99 (newegg.com)
