Hi Testmy Forumees (Have no idea whether that's a word or not, but today it is!).

I'm having a problem reaching my advertised 1472 (Kbits/Sec) Downstream/ 256 (Kbits/Sec) Upstream Rate. I am using Bellsouth DSL Ultra Version 03.08.02

I am running Windows XP Home

I have tried TCP Optimize (Didn't notice any drastic change or any change at all for that matter).

I also tried Cable Nut .. I noticed SOME change but not much. I think it may be the settings I choose.

I took the Tweakability Test and here's what I got

1. Your Tweakable SettingsReceive Window (RWIN):  512000

Window Scaling:  3

Path MTU Discovery:  ON

RFC1323 Window Scaling:  ON

RFC1323 Time Stamping:  OFF

Selective Acks:  ON

MSS requested:  1444

TTL:

(less any hops behind firewall)

67

TTL remaining:  53

TOS flags: none set

2. Test DownloadActual data bytes sent: 1031221

Actual data packets: 716

Max packet sent (MTU): 1484

Max packet recd (MTU): 1492

Retransmitted packets: 5

sacks you sent: 59

pushed data pkts: 32

data transmit time: 6.561 secs

our max idletime: 503.1 ms

transfer rate: 141802 bytes/sec

transfer rate: 1134 kbits/sec

transfer efficiency: 99%

3. ICMP (ping) check Minimum ping: 39.82 ms

Maximum ping: 44.69 ms

Ping stability:

43.09 42.45 39.82 40.42 44.69 40.20 40.69 41.26 42.39 42.09

4. Notes and Recommendations Change MTU to 1500 (FAQ #652, #695)

Choose RWIN between 14440 and 37544 (FAQ #586)

download/use DRTCP .. (FAQ #578)

Read the tweak FAQ

Observations:

Good data stream (no/few rexmits)

Observations:

Looking good

Could someone tell me what I need to do to achieve the optimal speed that I am promised by Bellsouth?

welcome to the forum je_re_my_0  ...enjoy ur stay...come back often :)

i'm sure help is on the way as we speak...so sit tight...sundays r kinda slow sometimes...

i don't know much about all this tweaking stuff...but i do know that isp's don't promise anything...there is an advertised speed that u pay for...and u may or may not be capped...but they can't promise any particular speed...we can only hope that we get close to what we pay for...

i'm sure one of the guru's will be here soon to help pick up ur pace :

again welcome :welcome:
