Le_Murphant Posted January 22, 2008 CID Share Posted January 22, 2008 I have an old computer with a 845GL chipset (http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/845gl/index.htm) with intel extreme graphics that I would like to use as a server that would be connected to my tv. Of course, the mobo doesn't have a s-video port, so I was looking at a VGA to s-video adapter on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.ca/VGA-to-RCA-S-Video-Adapter-Cable-Converter-for-PC-TV_W0QQitemZ160201230829QQiHz006QQcategoryZ41999QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), Do you think that it would enable me to use my tv as a monitor? there would be no other monitors. BTW I don't plan on viewing anything really HD or anything, just standard definition. The tv is not HD-compatible anyways. Thanks. The thing is that the sound input is going to the sound system, not to the tv, could that be a problem with the component video adapter? I had an adapter a while back for a really old video card so I could watch it on my TV...The difference between s-video and component was pretty noticable. I think the TV is actually going to be the limiting factor. Edit: Does the graphics have a DVI port? Or does it just have VGA?
