Van .....the cap seems to depend on any moment in time that they  (dway)  chooses......I've never heard them admit to anything......in my 3 yrs and hundreds of hours with them.

But I will say my 4000 was way faster than this 6000 crap.  I was usually around 2100 Kbs with it......doing good to see 1000 with this new one....

Vanburen, I was able to get the results below once. Although I have had several in the 1300Kbps range. Most of my test seems to be in the 900'sKbps. I have the consumer account.

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 1648 Kbps about 1.6 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB)

Download Speed is:: 201 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 29 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 5.09 second(s)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=6PYVEZKSH

I know this does not help to answer your question, just my experience. I think I had seen somewhere the DW6000 was caped at 1000Kbps. I will look around to see if I can find anything to help you.

ok here is the test version, its many files, try em out

Cablenut cant restore your current settings unless you save your current settings to a certain .ccs file in cablenut.

Cablenut can restore the values to windows default, unlike many other tweak programs, you can use cablenut to clean up certain tweaks.

NOTE: If you have Dr:TCP or TCP Optimizer, make sure to use same MTU value in those programs as the file you loading in cablenut.

good luck and please report back the good and bad

ps: also remember to click save to registry and reboot after you loaded the new settings

Thanks for that :)

The tweaks i now made and posted was based on a 1500 Kbps cap of DW 6000 and a 2000 Kbps cap for DW4000, i will modify these settings when i get feedback

I updated the files, here is a new version

you will need Cablenut program https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64

install cablenut, download the attached Satellite winXP 2k.zip and unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut

open cablenut adjuster, if you like to backup your current config, click file in top left corner, click file, click save custom settings file and name it backup.ccs

now click load custom settings file and browse to C:ProgramCablenut and now you see MTU 1460 and MTU 1500 folders, choose the MTU that you have and test the files in that folder.

just dubbleclick on them and after that click save to registry and reboot, you need to do that each time you load a new setting.

good luck

its the upload that sucks ass ..most I've had was bout 9  :haha:    wish they had cable out here

Ok Van, I just ran all 8 of the DW6000 tweaks.....the results are below.....or you can verify using my screen name.

I have DW6000 home accnt. 3.4 pentium 4 HT 1 Gig of ram....SM5 @1230Mhz sig strength mid 80's.

1460mtu tests

first one    upload ran 75...75...69    download ran  1005...668....883

2nd file    upload ran  72....74...76  download    995...995..993

3rd file  upload  66...76...78        download    995...904....899

last file    upload  9...9....        download    967.....993.....998

1500 mtu tests

first one    upload  54....48....44  download  814....841....643

2nd test  upload    68....76.....72    donwload    979....1735....993

3rd test    upload    77...68....63    download    993....990....995

last test  upload    58....53....62  download    1452.....703....945

As you can see some of the uploads improved drastically.....for my connection......not sure what's up with the 1452 and the 1735  numbers...that never happens to me . :haha:

Think I'll go play with the 4000 settings for a while!!

Hope this helps.....

Just for comparison with the new cablenut. These are run with TCP Optimizer. This is intended to have something to compare to during the same time frame.

hey Aggr3 :)

it would be great if you can use the tweakfile name, so i can locate what file that works best

this seems to be best overall

MTU 1500

2nd test  upload    68....76.....72    donwload    979....1735....993

and this seem very stable

MTU 1460

2nd file    upload ran  72....74...76  download    995...995..993

also use the 2992 KB test, that give the most accurate reading

yes if the weather is decent & dway is working properly i am at 1.5 consistantly at peak hours

but i went back to the old version 4.0.3.9.....as dway put out new versions & service packs i always noticed

worse speeds....i reformatted my hard drive & had a chance to do a clean install of dway 4.0.3.9...

completely uninstalling every bit & piece of dway from your system is impossible i think

unless one reformats the hard drive.....if i feel my software has become corrupted i run

web setup this way & it seems to restore better than reinstalling the entire program from scratch...

1. open ms DOS prompt

a. click start

b. select run

c. type command and hit enter

2. type C: hit enter .... if DirecWay is installed on a different drive then use that drive in place of C

3. type

Well the excitement became to much and I had to try your new program. This test was done using the consumer file. Below are my results. A couple of post above this were my speeds with TCP Optimizer.

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 35 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 579 KB)

Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB download in 8.98 sec

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-UBVWQMOF6

After restoring TCP Optimizer settings I get these results. Although I know that internet congestion has a huge part in these test, it appears some of us are going to have to commit to a cablenut setting a keep it for a couple of days to compare. Sattellite seems to be so variable.

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Upload Speed is:: 10 KB/s

Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB download in 8.9 sec

At least for now it appears that TCP Optimizer is doing better for my system. That is not to say that cablenut will not be better for others using satellite.
