This is on my T41 Thinkpad using a Linksys BEFW11S4 router.

I also have 128bit WEP enabled.

Connection is:: 4557 Kbps about 4.6 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 556 KB/s

Test Time:: Thu, 10 Feb 2005 20:07:51 GMT-0500

Bottom Line:: 81X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.84 sec

I am using Comcast and the Gold package = 6000 down 768 up.

Just for fun i did a wired test on the same laptop.  :D

Download Speed is:: 738 KB/s

Bottom Line:: 108X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.39 sec

My upload seems a little low.

I have never seen any tweaks for upload.
