Higher Upload Powerboost

Recommended Posts

Just the other day as Docsis 3 was rolling out in certain areas I decided to powercycle my modem and now am seeing much more speed on the upload side, powerboost obviously but it stays on for roughly 40MB of the file, sweet

Im on the 16/2 tier, and soon will be on the 22/5 tier

Everyone in the chicago area should have been upgraded, just powercycle your modem

If you were on the 6/1 tier it is now 12/2

If you were on the 8/2 tier it is now 16/2

16/2 stays the same speed

If you wish to check to see if your area has the new 22/5 ultra tier or the 50/10 xtreme tier visit this link and add your zipcode, if its not available it will ask you to leave your email to be notified when it is available in your area.

Sorry for bumping old thread, but it seems that I might be getting "PermaBOOST" again.

I'm on the 6 Mbps tier, and I'm getting consistent 12 Mbps (1.5 MB/s) speeds on everything (including torrenting Linux). I get "PowerBOOSTed" upload up to 420 kB/s, and then after ~10 MB of uploading the file, it drops to 250 kB/s exactly (which converts to 2000 Kbps, or 2.0 Mbps).

I was pretty sure that it was another PermaBOOST "bug" in the PowerBOOST system, but maybe not anymore, since you mentioned that the tier is getting an upgrade. If so, I guess it's a response to the rapid rollout of FiOS :P

But I'm upgrading to 20 Mbps/5 Mbps FiOS next week, so I probably won't know if this speed is a permanent upgrade, or another PowerBOOST "failure" fiasco.

I've uploaded a screenshot of a Fedora torrent going consitently at 1.5 MB/s all the way (started off at ~2.5 MB/s at first, signs of PowerBOOST, then dropped to 1.5 MB/s, and stayed there).
