RoadRunner WideBand 50/5 Rochester, NY I'm Hurting here?

Make sure you have a Docsis 3.0 Modem and call RoarRunner and make sure they have it provisioned correctly. That happened to me when I first went with Comcast and 50/10. They didn't provision the modem properly. Good luck.

I'm on the 105/10 Tier and only very early in the A.M. hours do I get anywhere near those speeds from the testmy.net servers, as shown in my previous post of June 3rd.

yeah it's insanely fast... ive been dying to test the 4G and when i did i was so impressed. pings were between 30-80 ms to TMN too. :smile2:

also.. its hilarious how ATT & T-Mobile call their HSPA+ 4G =) my friends have T-Mobile mytouch 4G and their speeds are around 3 mbps down and about 1 meg up.. not much better than verizon's 3G

Not to shabby over wifi eh? :P and i also have a thunderbolt i have yet to tether it to see what the 4G network can really do but this is what i get on the phones browser

TriRan.png

it seems thats about the max the phones web browser will allow cause over wifi on my home connection i can't break 12-14Mbps

edit: i may need to find a better radio/kernal combo i was only able to do about 5Mbps tether'd so i'll have to try some other radio's out for it... maybe on my next day off haha

my average times have never been as high as the rr.com averages. Anyone with Cincinnati Time Warner meeting the averages on testmy?

Had a Time Warner technician at the house this morning. Last night I had upload speeds that were 25% of what they are normally. The online and guy on site today found the signal levels coming from the street to be out of range high, no lost packets. I've been fighting intermittent download and upload speed swings for a month or so, that are giving me mood swings. They checked the modem - it was OK but they replaced it anyway because of the intermittent nature of the problem. They'll send another guy out to work on the outside equipment.

TWC is known for having a mess to clean up, chances are the drop needs replaced. If it's buried I'de almost bet on it. Leaks in the ariel lines , and hodge podge nodes /cards replaced with old hardware and overall over sold nodes.

The company has gone through some serious issues over the last 10 years, and the infrastructure was not maintained while the last owners pillaged the business accounts.

yeah. they've worked on the box out in the front near the street two times in the past two weeks for signal level issues for my neighbors. Too bad about the last owners of TWC. I guess I'll hope for things to improve, but I'm not holding my breath. the bean counters always win.

The tech said they have thermostatically controlled temperature in their outside gear, but every time it gets cold, they start having problems because the heaters don't work. LOL

and I you're right about the oversold nodes. Just in the last six months I've noticed more (and worse) slowdowns when people get home from work, and in prime time.
