speeding up my RR connection

i have RR with 5000/384 right now, and i have VanBuren's cablenut settings applied also, but i dont think im getting all the speed i should be getting.

I also have a Linksys 802.11b wireless router (befw11s4), but my computer is connected directly to it (not wirelessly).

When RR first gave the upgrade, i was getting about 5500 Kbps, but now its not running quite as fast.  Also, i noticed a considerable difference between the speeds in IE and FireFox

IE:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 4012 Kbps about 4 Mbps (tested with 5983 KB)

Download Speed is:: 490 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Sun Feb 20 17:20:25 CST 2005

Bottom Line:: 72X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.09 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 24.25 % faster than the average for host (rr.com)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-ESL2UPTAD

FireFox:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 4964 Kbps about 5 Mbps (tested with 5983 KB)

Download Speed is:: 606 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Sun Feb 20 2005 17:23:09 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time)

Bottom Line:: 89X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.69 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 53.73 % faster than the average for host (rr.com)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-4L9Z1JXHP

Is there any way i can make my speed faster (im not quite sure what my real speed is, but the one on IE is a whole Mbps lower)

this is a guide how to set 10 Mbps half duplex, ignore that and set it to 100 Mbps full duplex

quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml

"Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex:

* Open Control Panel.

* Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.

* Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection.

* Right-click that icon and select Properties.

* Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure.

* Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front:

* In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT.

* In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or (B) at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI.

* Click OK to exit the Adapter settings.

* Click OK to exit the Connection properties. "

yea thats the bad thing about a high TcpWindowsize, i just wanted to test this before we start changing AFD buffer

open cablenut, and reload the file 5000 384.ccs from SP2 MSS 1460 folder

change DefaultReceiveWindow to 384000 and leave all other settings as they are

click save to registry and reboot
