The big differance with the speeds could be distance from the server you are testing from.  What OS are you using?  XP and 2000 can usually be tweaked by Cablenut easily.  Vista does not work.  At least not for me it did not.  Vista usually does fairly well on it's own to keep the speeds up.  Linux and Mac I do not know if the OS can be tweaked for better speeds.

Is the 2wire test for you, coming from the States or from Asia? Seems to give an accurate result for me and it is apparently coming from Atlanta area for me.

If they have many business customers on the same line area. A timed throttle would be a slow down at a certain time(8 to 12 hours) each and every day.

My ISP being DSL, they have a problem with the default settings for the upload speed, when they move a client to a faster speed tier. Someone has to go in and change the profile of the upload speed.

Or sometimes the customers card in the DSL node has gone bad and needs to be changed out.

Has this been happening for long? Or is it just in the short while.

you may find some answers on this board http://www.testmy.net/b-142 ...it's specific to your provider...from what i understand pldt offers better dl from smartbro...but the ul is about the same...insanely slow...frustrating...

browse thru here and hopefully you will get a better answer... http://www.testmy.net/b-142
