I am running the sp1 tweaks on sp1 at the moment.

upanddown.PNG

It goes up and down during an NDT test. I get like 750 KB/sec on a download test here now that it is offpeak (it starts at 300 and then goes faster). See how the upload goes up and down? No matter what i put for the sendwin values, it still does it... any ideas?

Download is satisfying enough - weee.png

i think it would be more stable with SP2 and fully take adventage of AFD tweaks, if you erase that DefautSendWindow and click save to registry your upload should be more stable but probl abit slower too, atleast over higher ping routes

putting 8192 as the send window (instead of the 100kb it had) seemd to help stable it a littlebit. What other values are good? (its empty on this pc at the moment)

8192 is the default value for DefaultSendwindow, leaving the field blank is also 8192 even if you dont see it, cos its windows default

yeah i did that. What BDP/send wins should i use? I'm pretty sure those retransmissions are all upload, tweaktest on dslreports says there are no retransmissions on thier download tweaker. Any like that that test uploading ?

like i said i know nothing about linux tweaking, CA3LE know more, he has set up this server and my speed increased from max 3.7 Mbps to max 9.2 Mbps hehe

anyway for windows use 1024x (your upload cap in KB/s) so if you have a 512 Kbps uploadcap, then use 512/8,192 = 62 KB/s

62x 1024 = 63488

alright, i'll try that. I think i already treid it, it didnt really help..

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12738085~mode=flat <-- more info if anybody wants to help

DSLR will recommend Dr.Tcp and that program dosent tweak upload at all

i suggest this site instead www.dslnuts.com and make a post in their forum

SP2 gives nice results.

TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.2.0f

click START to begin

Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  Done

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 957.34Kb/s

running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 5.60Mb/s

The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet

click START to re-test

Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  Done

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 940.02Kb/s

running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 5.66Mb/s

The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet

click START to re-test

(keep in mind adelphia is doing an upgrade test, and they chose this area. I was getting 7-8mbit download, the only problem is a dely. It starts at 300-400KB/sec (which makes the testmy tests bad, by the time it his 800-900 KB/sec, the test is over) then works up to 800-900. Upload starts at like 110 and fluctuates between that and 70-80ish. Pretty good

Blargh. I had to retype this due to it not accepitng ccs, and my browser baleeted what i had typed. :(

I attached my old file, ziped this time. I adjusted the rwins in the 6000/768 sp2 one and it helped some, But i am stuck at like 600 KB/sec. With the attached tweak, the upload didn't lock on as good as it does now, but the download went like 800-900 KB/sec. Can you tell me which values helped the upload, so i can merge them with my old upgrade?

thanks.

i suggest you try to finetune that SP2 file instead, that file you attached is a SP1 tweak

anyways here is the definitions of all values http://www.dslnuts.com/2kxp.shtml

TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize should always be the same

i suggest you load the SP2 file and change DefaultReceiveWindow in steps of 128000 try 128000 first then 256000 and also test 384000 until you reach the point where speed go down, then go back and use the best value

the problem with too large DefaultReceiveWindow is that you start retransmitting packets

anything to fix the up and down that the upload does? Im using 150380 for the rwin now, and the dl sucks. Time to go tweak. Teh upload is better than it has been, just sent a file to someone, averaged 80 KB/sec. Of course it was up to 90-100 KB/sec then down to 60...

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 3268 Kbps about 3.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 399 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Wed Feb 23 11:12:00 EST 2005

Bottom Line:: 58X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.57 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 31.46 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net)

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 522 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 1013 KB)

Upload Speed is:: 64 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Wed Feb 23 11:12:56 EST 2005

Bottom Line:: 9X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 16 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 77.55 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-58RGBOF6K

Only because it takes a couple seconds for me to actually reach the speed... dunno why. NDT tests show better speeds... just ran this one:

TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.3.3a

click START to begin

Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  Done

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 745.53Kb/s

running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 3.00Mb/s

The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet

Information: Other network traffic is congesting the link

click START to re-test

eeew.... the download stinks. I think something is going on. NetTraf is showing it again as cutting in and out (800 KB/sec, then 200, up and down)..... im using 128000 default rwin, it gave me good results just a minute ago.. 256000 slowed me down.
