weirdly, if i test while im on the phone (which is hooked to my lan like a normal pc), i get:

this is upload test to my server, there is a link on downloadpage to it aswell

http://www.testmy.net/u_load.php?tt=&ta=1&top=VanBuren&align=left

somehow your connection seems very sensitive with SP2 tweaks,, it might confict somehow with your linux router, i do not know, but  normally with these tweaks, you get alot of burst in the start

continue finetuning DefaultReceiveWindow the other settings should be in range

for upload you can change the DefaultSendWindow

the recommended settings from Cablenut tweam is 1024x ( your upload cap in KB/s ) both for DefaultReceivewindow and DefaultSendwindow and that work very well for most ppl

I did pretty good with the sp1 tweaks. My connection still acted like that on SP1 w/o the network between me. I'll try hooking right up to the modem and running some tests.

thats not bad overseas, remember, when you connect direct to modem, force 10 Mbps half duplex on your NIC

oh... i didnt force the duplex. It is a sb5100 though, it supports like 40mb down and 30mb up. As far as i know its 100Mbps full duplex. Anyway here is the post i wrote in notepad while testing:

I saw "10.  Now you got a few values set in adjuster, change DefultRcvWindow and GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize to that RWIN value you calculated before. If your calculated RWIN is above 65535, you need to set Tcp13230pts to 1." on your site

My tcp13230opts is 0....

yea thats correct, beqause your TcpWindowSize is 64240 unless you changed it

[[email protected] root]# ethtool -s eth2 speed 10 duplex half

Cannot get current device settings: Operation not supported

  not setting speed

  not setting duplex

The nic that is used for wan doesnt support forcing the duplex and stuff....  :-|

is there any other tweaking I can do?

And, you said use 128000 then increase in steps of it. I got the best results with 128000. Also, my globalmaxtcpwindow is 6424000... should i set the max window to 128000 and turn on tcp1323opts?

BAF im trying to figure out whats wrong with your system and you keep changing settings without telling me, do as i tell you to do or fix it yourself....

Use the 6000 768 file as it is, just finetune DefaultReceiveWindow and DefaultSend window

I did. Default recieve window is 12800. Before you posted that, i set the globalmaxtcpwindowsize to 128000 and tcp1320opts to on and rebooted.

leave all settings as they are in the 6000 768 file, you dont need to change tcp1320opts unless you set your TcpWindowsize above 65535

do not mix that up with DefaultReceiveWindow, thats a AFD parameter

defenitions from http://www.dslnuts.com/2kxp.shtml

1. DefaultReceiveWindow - The number of receive bytes that AFD buffers on a connection before imposing flow control. For some applications, a larger value here gives slightly better performance at the expense of increased resource utilization.

Value Type: REG_DWORD

Default: 4096/8192/8192

2. DefaultSendWindow - This is similar to DefaultReceiveWindow, but for the send side of connections.

Value Type: REG_DWORD

Default: 4096/8192/8192

23. Tcp1323Opts - This parameter controls RFC 1323 time stamps and window-scaling options. Time stamps and window scaling are enabled by default, but can be manipulated with flag bits. Bit 0 controls window scaling, and bit 1 controls time stamps.

Value Type: REG_DWORD

Thats DSLR tweaktester, and they dosent use AFD tweaking, their Program Dr.Tcp cant change those parameters, so ignore the recommendations from that test, im only interested in the result

your modem is probl so smart so it can hadle full duplex, alot of modems do not...

try the 20 MB test on my site again and the 12 MB test at testmy.net and check score

try this first

all files in version 5 has a 10% overtweak, cos alot of ISP advertise 4000 Kbps and the cap is 4400

lets calculate strict after your advertised speed

6000 Kbps/ 8,192 = 732 KB/s x 1024 = 749568 set that on DefautReceiveWindow

768 / 8,192 = 93 x 1024 = 95232 set that on DefaultSendwindow

If it dosent help, change DefaultReceivewindow start at 128000 and increase in steps of 128000 until you reach a point where speed drop, then change back

and for DefaultSendWindow start at 16384 and go up in steps of 16384 until is go slower

VanBuren :)

alright, thanks. A lot of times with adelphia people get way over their caps anyway. When the cap was 4mb, i got 4.4.4.6mbit download, but never got the upload tweaked right. Is there room for a possibility of going over with these tweaks?

Also, now that in the past week our upstream has gone from 256 to 768, is there a reason to even run my traffic shaper for the voip any more? And should I do like it says and subtract 10% before putting it in the shaper, or just punch in 768? Thanks for the help.
