Not getting advertised speed. Please help

I have bought a 20 meg package and this is what i am getting

Download Connection is:: 881 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1024 kB)

Download Speed is:: 108 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main)

Test Time:: 2009/12/24 - 4:22am

Bottom Line:: 15X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 9.48 sec

Tested from a 1024 kB file and took 9.518 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 30.41 % of your hosts average (co.uk)

could somebody give me some help, i tried the sticky help at the top

Welcome to the forum carter90cmc, give these guys a little information such as your network layout, devices, and such.

I will say that your a couple miles from the test server being in the UK, as it is located in Texas USA, so depending on router / ISP, you should still get a better connection then this with that  size throughput.

Are you behind a router, did you try it while bypassing the router to see if it might be it?

Do you have many programs running in the background?

Have you  tried testing with a larger file?

What is your transfer rate when doing a download?
