Well, I just got into my new place. Qwest.net didn't have adequate service in my area for my needs so I switched back to Cox Communications.

Glad I did... sorry if you don't have crazy fast internet and if this post is like salt in your wounds... I just wanted to share it for anyone thinking of getting Cox 50/5 Extreme, it's SICK and as advertised. :headbang:

Goodbye Qwest.net

well?? what's it cost ya??

$89.95 per month. Right now it's $29.95 for the first three months ($19.95 for three months if you bundle with phone). One downside to this package is that Cox forces you to get a professional install. They were very adimate about that. They want to make sure the signal levels are just right apparently. So that added $49.95. I got a Motorola Surfboard 6120 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for $100 from best buy.

Nice , must be a breeze to get certain things done.

It definitely doesn't hurt any :laughing7:

must be nice having choices! Our provider has the monopoly on the net here so we have to stay with them. The only plus is that it is cheap. 99.99 for cable net and phone.

Damn monopolies!

The cable market in Phoenix hasn't seen prices that low since about 2002... but then again your speeds look like Cox's speeds back in 2002. So at least Bevcomm's price point seems right on the money. Be thankful that your not in such a remote location to where you'd have to get dreaded satellite. <_< -- those poor guys :(

I also just moved to Phoenix, AZ and was in Cox store today. I ordered the same modem from Newegg and I will likely get their Premium internet connection with d/l speed of 25 Mbps. Can I expect a similar speed? Cox has a holiday discount of $29 /mo for 6 mos then increase to $60. Opinions will be appreciated.

I don't see why not. I worked for Cox Communications in Phoenix for 5 years, I have a huge respect for how they run things. I've seen the inner workings first hand and they don't mess around. Immaculate datacenters, not a wire out of place...

And the cool thing about Cox is that there are no contracts, so if you decide that 50Mbps is too much for you all you do is tell them to drop it down. Great customer service. Pretty much the only reason I ever hear people complain about Cox is because they didn't pay their bill... or they still have Cox's equipment. ... Uh, sorry... if you keep their $600 HD-DVR converter... they're gunna charge you, DUH! haha

You'll be happy with them. Everyone in Phoenix knows that they can't be beat ;)

.... Oh yeah, make sure you come back and post your speed here once you get all setup.
