Strange Speed Drop

Hello folks. What is very strange is my download speed dropped about a third in the last week or two from where it has been of recent - still a great speed so I'm not complaining. The intellectual side of me is curious as to what might have caused it.There is no hardware change. The drop was uniform across 3 different computers. Should I just chalk it up to a Comcast hiccup?

Thanks for any ideas.

Bill

Hey Bill ,

run a traceroute to testmy.net , see if there are any times way out there. I'm guessing you are on windows ? Just in case your not familiar

Start run type " cmd " when it opens type "tracrt testmy.net" w/o quotes

There are many reason why this could be happening, as you suggested , could be an ISP issue , could be maleware , or botnet activity , your line drop could have been compromised, someone on your node could have uncapped there modem and abusing it ( which shouldn't last long if recognized ) jus to mention a couple reasonable possibilities.

Looking at your stats it seems like a slight drop... dont know about a 3rd. i would also recommend a larger test file. 15 MB is tiny for powerboost standards.

25 MB - https://testmy.net/dl-25MB&nfw=1

50 MB - https://testmy.net/dl-50MB&nfw=1

75 MB - https://testmy.net/dl-75MB&nfw=1

200 MB - https://testmy.net/dl-200MB&nfw=1
