Getting Ridiculous Packetloss

Recommended Posts

I'm a serious gamer and Adelphia has been giving me the run-around about my packetloss issue since late Jan. I wish I had time to sit around and wait for them, but I don't. It's imperative my packetloss is fixed by THIS Sunday. I downloaded cablenut by reference from a friend. Now I just need to know what numbers I should plug in.

My test results:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 4297 Kbps about 4.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 525 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Wed Mar 9 02:56:57 EST 2005

Bottom Line:: 77X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.95 sec

Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 65.78 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-PHZ0VXFIG

:::.. Upload Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 217 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Upload Speed is:: 26 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Wed Mar 9 03:01:09 EST 2005

Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 39.38 sec

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 68.03 % of your hosts average (adelphia.net)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-34AVZW71O

Last night my packetloss hit 10.2% in a certain game...Any help or advice you might have is much appreciated.

hey Tito and welcome to the forum :)

run a linequality test http://www.dslreports.com/tools

sign up its free

"Line Packet Loss Testing

Packet loss tests on your line, including identification of any problem routers en-route to you.."

when you see result, copy whole URL adress and paste it here

but if you just like the right settings, then download this file https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=1237

unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut

now open cablenut, in top left corner, click file, load custom settings file, browse to

C:ProgramCablenutVanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_6_ALL_WIN_OS_AND_SATCABLE_DSL_FIBER_DIAL-UPWinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1460

dubbleclick on the that has your advertised download/upload speed

now click save to registry and reboot

quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml

"Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex:

* Open Control Panel.

* Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.

* Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection.

* Right-click that icon and select Properties.

* Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure.

* Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front:

* In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT.

* In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or (B) at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI.

* Click OK to exit the Adapter settings.

* Click OK to exit the Connection properties. "
