Those speed results are pretty strange.

What's your speed when downloading a normal file? Use a program like AIDA32 or possibly StatBar to see what your current speed is, the values shown by IE and Firefox are averages and severely influenced by burst when downloading.

Edit: As some of you may have noticed, I'm pretty much inactive, but I still check threads that were reported. So as long as you people keep reporting I'm still doing my job :)

I was correct, the 48x accounts are better at this time and this may be why. Again, you get what you pay for. Here's a post from another forum on the subject explaining Starband working with their 48x account holders to improve things.....

"They recently opend up a new subcluster on T-7 for 48x customers in an effort to get their speeds back up to where they should be.

April will be a key month.....if they don't get things stabilized by the 2nd or 3rd week then there are more serious issues involved.

Everything was going very very well right before the T-7 fiasco and the repoint hell.....so theoretically it should go back to that.

The past 3 months have been an incredibly difficult time for everyone involved."

Not true.

My 481 account right now is no better and possibly worse than a 360 account.

As for a new subcluster on T 7.

What possible benifit could be acheived from dividing the bandwidth even deeper?

Answer: None and that is just what I am seeing; progressively worse performance as more and more are crammed onto less and less bandwidth.

Unless SB adds more transponders things will only continue to degrade.

The one remaining working Ku transponder on T 7 was just acquired by Angel broadcasting; not SB.

By the way. SB is still adding new accounts and not advising the new pidgeons that there is no way in hell they can provide what they are selling.

Looks to me like the only hope for improvement I have would be for more users to quit than there are new accounts
